Squad Returns For Pre-Season Training
Monday, 26th Jun 2023 13:40

The Town squad were back at Playford Road for the start of pre-season training ahead of their 2023/24 Championship campaign this morning.

While squad has been away, the dressing rooms at the training ground have undergone a refurbishment, which met with the approval of skipper Sam Morsy.

“Lovely, really nice,” he told the club’s social media. “Everyone’s really happy to be back and see everyone. They’ve had a bit of a revamp over the summer, which just shows the commitment to the club that everyone’s trying to make, trying to make us better all the time in all aspects.

“It’s lovely, it’s something which has probably needed changing for a number of years. They’ve done it, the staff have worked tirelessly all summer to make sure it’s ready for us and we’re all happy to be here.”

Reflecting on the hard graft that is pre-season getting under way, the Egyptian international added: “It’s really hot out there and there’s going to be a lot of good work but I’m looking forward to it, looking forward to progressing as a group over this pre-season.

“There’s no easy way around it, it’s going to be a lot of hard work, a lot of methodical work to make sure we give ourselves the best chance to have a successful season.

“You just have enjoy it really, take it a day at a time. Last season was fantastic, this season’s a new season. It’s worth taking a day at a time and just keep gradually getting better.”

Quizzed on what he believes is the best aspect of pre-season training, the 31-year-old laughed: “Probably when it’s over!”

Town play their first pre-season friendly at Felixstowe & Walton on Saturday with the game sold out.

Or possibly away kit 🤷🏻‍♂️. Our last attempt at that colour away kit wasn't that great, but maybe a solid away kit in that colour might work

If that colour is going to be a strip, l absolutely love it. Think the colour is fantastic. If it's not, l want one of those training tops.

Greta to actually have something to talk about properly after all these weeks. Welcome back lads, liking the training colour and looking forward to the new kit launch and some new blood through the door soon

Great that the club is proud and moving forwards in all areas. Important the fans don't settle for dross like they have in the past ever again. Demand the best for YOUR club. Supporting failure is not good support 👍🏻

Bluearmy- Taken to it's logical conclusion, that sounds a little bit like you'll walk away whenever your club is having a hard time.

No one settled for dros and it's stupid to even think so, but some fans did continue to support even through the dross (even though they weren't enjoying it) and to suggest for one second that by not doing so you somehow helped turn the club around is ridiculous.

It was crap for a long time but I applaud those 13k fans who still turned up and handed over their cash, week in week out. I'm overseas, but I still paid my Ifollow and bought shirts.

It's so arrogant to suggest that everyone who supported the club through the hard times were supporting the hard times and not the club. There is a really clear distinction there.

The payback however is that having gone through it all, it makes the good times all the better. Of course, if you stopped supporting halfway thought the Premier League relegation season and only came back last year then you wouldn't notice.

Wesley Burns, according to this ECG readout we need to ask you, have you been to Las Vegas this offseason?

Makes a nice training top would be very surprised if it's the new away colour. Got a feeling we might revert back to the old white black white combination with the stripe kit being the third kit. Not too bothered as long as it looks like a football shirt and not a fashion garment. Seen a lot of the ghastly black shirts in the charity shops lately.
