MacAnthony: Taylor to Join Town? Don't Expect It
Monday, 19th Jun 2023 21:47

Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony says Town fans shouldn’t expect Posh midfielder Jack Taylor to join the Blues this summer.

Taylor is a long-term Town target having had multiple bids, the final one approaching £2 million, in January.

Earlier this month, Peterborough’s director of football Barry Fry said he expected the 24-year-old to move to a Championship club, naming the Blues as among the contenders.

However, asked on Twitter this evening when Town fans could anticipate Taylor joining the Blues, MacAnthony appeared to dampen down those expectations.

Briatol City have also been linked with the Irish U21 international, while we understand Middlesbrough and Millwall are also keen.

Good news. Now if only Posh could stop trying to sell us all their players.

Honestly, I wouldn't want to do business with their club anyway. This guy is an absolute tool. Rather us take our money elsewhere.

These guys are just trying to ramp up the transfer fee by blabbing in public. Fine, but I see no particular reason for us to do business with people like them on that basis.

There are two words Darragh McAnthony has never uttered in his life - "No comment."

DM is just doing what he does. We need to ignore him and 99% of all other speculation because we've learned already that MA keeps a really tight ship when it comes to transfer business. For example no-one talked about KM's new deal until after it happened. Why? Nobody knew about it or if they did they keep their social media fingers away from their keyboards.

Personally I'm just going to enjoy the ride. Whatever is good enough for MA and KM is ok by me and whatever will be, will be

Its only Posh saying we still want him

I'm sick of the name “ Taylor”. I don't actually want him on a Town shirt and REALLY hope Tiwn have moved on. Posh can sling their hook and rip another club off now.

Listen to Ashton not Posh. We have our targets and seems like we are progressing on that front but do feel a bit for Posh players like Jack Taylor and Jonson Clarke-Harris. Posh priced them out of moves here before, and now we may well have moved on to looking at next level players. I guess those players have a say, but this strategy worked well before for Posh, but won't wash with our new ownership and leadership.....they even called Posh out before on the subject as they were trying to use us to push prices up. If any Posh player does show up it will be because we want him and secured at a fair price for us; how will Mr Fry be able to spin that ?!

Is it only us they want to talk about? They are such amateurs dealing with Mark Ashton, and the don't seem to learn. Move on we are aiming at the PL now, not wasting time playing silly games. We showed them in January we were quite happy to shift our emphasis and still go up, they don't seem to have got the memo just yet

I for one don't believe anything that I read on Twitter & I definitely think this is a tongue in cheek remark. What I do know is that I have faith in the recruitment to bring the right players to the club!

Cameron Humphreys will be a better player than Taylor in a year or so.

Surely El Mizouni is better option for town, keep hold of him and give him games. Other than that we have a great central midfield, too many players to choose from

Good, have never seen anything in him anyway and lve watched a lot of Posh over the last two seasons. Think we can do way better than him in our midfield......Lets move on from this, lm sick of hearing his name to be quite honest.
