Former Blue Kenlock Joins Shots
Friday, 10th Mar 2023 22:08

Former Blues left-back Myles Kenlock has joined Vanarama National League Aldershot Town having left Barrow in January.

The 26-year-old was released by Town last summer, having spent the second half of 2021/22 on loan at Colchester United, and moved to Holker Park in August but made only nine starts and four sub appearances for the League Two club.

Shots manager Ross McNeilly is pleased to have signed Kenlock on a deal to the end of the season.

“Myles comes with lots of experience in league football,” he told his club’s official website. “He’s a good character and adds depth and quality to to our backline.”

Meanwhile, former Blues academy midfielder and coach Liam Manning is close to being named the new boss of Oxford United following Karl Robinson’s recent sacking. Manning, 37, left his previous role as head coach of the MK Dons in December.

Elsewhere, former Town midfielder and coach Kieron Dyer has been banned from driving for six months having been stopped by police while using his mobile phone while driving in Norwich Road in April 2022.

Dyer admitted the offence but applied for exceptional hardship due to his ongoing liver condition, sclerosing cholangitis, which will eventually require a transplant, but Judge Peter Forster deemed that the required threshold hadn’t been met and issued him with six points for the offence, leading to a ban under the totting-up system, and fines totalling £836.

The 44-year-old, who left his role as U21s coach a year ago, told the court he took the call as he thought it related to his health.

26 years old, released by us less than a year ago and now playing non league. Says an awful lot about where we were!

Are you trying to tell me that KIERON DYER doesn't have a phone with hands-free Bluetooth? What a stupid thing to do

As for Kenlock, I think it was clear to most of us that he just wasn't good enough. He had odd decent games for us, I guess. I must admit I thought he'd cut it at L2 level but there we go

Kenlock always looked lightweight. He also appeared like he couldn't stop a pig in a passage. Not built for football.

Could this come back to haunt us?

Watched Miles many times at youth team level and thought what a promising prospect. Unfortunately when he moved up to senior level like many young players his physical development stopped and that's when he struggled. I fear he might even find it hard at non league level. Maybe a move to a midfield role might be more beneficial as he has good technical skills. Keiron Dyer has always been one of my favourite all time Town player's and would have gained many England caps if it hadn't been for injuries. But ive always been concerned about his lack of maturity even at the age of 44 he's still the same Keiron we knew when he made his debut for Town. I just hope he sorts his life out and stays in the news for the right reasons.

Kenlock is still infinitely better than I ever was. I hope he does well.

I'd often seen dyer on match days whilst walking past main entrance as he was heading in.
I can't ever recall seeing him with ear not to phone.
Once whilst with my grandson I asked if a photo could be taken. (Using sign language.)
He happily obliged, even removing ear from phone for 3 seconds for photo to be taken.
Off he trotted shaking hands with all around, with ear to phone.

As for Kenlock, he may well be a great bloke….but was a fully paid up member of the infamous ITFC cosy club. Embarrassing at times….not good enough in others.

I had high hopes for Miles with us
He never really had the courage confidence or maybe fitness to burst forward like Davis does now which held him back in my opinion
Bit of an old fashioned stay at home full backs
Anyway he's a blue and always will be so good luck with your future in football wherever it may be
