More Than 24,000 Tickets Sold For Forest Green Visit
Friday, 17th Feb 2023 10:45

Town have sold more than 24,000 tickets for tomorrow’s home game against Forest Green Rovers.

Seats remain available in all stands for the first ever meeting between the teams at Portman Road here. Town won August's game at the New Bolt Lawn 2-1.

The day will see the club pay tribute to legendary manager Bobby Robson on what would have been his 90th birthday.

Bryan Hamilton will be recalling his favourite memories of Robson in the FanZone ahead of the match, while video tributes will be shown on the big screen at half-time and also published on the club's social media channels.

The programme will feature an extended article by Mel Henderson, the club’s PRO during Robson’s time at the club, while a number of his players will be at the game.

Robson’s favourite song, Frank Sinatra’s My Way, will be played over the PA and current manager Kieran McKenna will wear a Sir Bobby Robson Foundation badge.

BBC Radio Suffolk’s Life’s a Pitch (Saturday, 12.2pm) will also feature a host of stars from Robson’s time at Town and as manager of England.

Fans are being called upon to play their part by applauding as the clock shows 78 and 81 minutes, in tribute to Town’s FA and UEFA Cup triumphs during Robson’s 13-year reign, and also 90, marking the anniversary but also Italia 90 when the legendary boss took England to the World Cup semi-finals, as well as wearing shirts, scarves and other memorabilia from the era at the match.

Going to be very interesting as forest Green will park the bus and we will have the usual huge possession count but are we actually capable of doing anything different with it than the last few abysmal efforts. Sadly this has 0-0 written all over it as we are just too slow to break teams down.

Even though it might be a lower attendance than some of our other home league matches this season, those numbers are remarkable for a third-tier game against Forest Green Rovers when we have been on such a bad run of form.

The players and management seriously need to step it up.

We have good players and what on paper looks like a good backroom team including the manager. We have great owners and great fans...
Let's hope that the team try something a little different tomorrow as FGR will expect us to play the same as we have been and that the players will start getting tense if it's still 0-0 at half time...
I don't care what the procession stats are it's all about balls in the net. Let's hope we get 1 more than them and we then do the same the next game...
Being in the playoffs is not a bad thing if we've won a few before they start and the players have there confidence back...

If we don't get 3 points from this game, i fear a very hostile response during and after the match.Surely it's got 4-nil written all over it.....PLEASE.!! COYB.

We need to come out of the traps flying - forward momentum with tempo, not patient and sideways passing or we'll find it's nil nil with twenty minutes to go and we have a game on our hands. FGR will try and use the occasion to frustrate us but for once, please God, can we take our early chances.p

Should be a formality...if FGR sit deep they've got an outside chance of getting something unlike how Morecambe approached the game at PR. Let's not even contemplate this game without a win though.

Are we supposing that FGR are coming here thinking they are already down?

If we expect them to park the bus surely they don't want to win, which would surprise me with Ferguson at the helm and nothing to lose.

That is fantastic support considering our poor form over the past few weeks. Time for the team to step up and give us a performance to be proud of and perhaps a good stepping stone to push us on.

BlueMoolay. Ur Probably right. There will be a hostile atmosphere if things not going well during the game. That unfortunately shows, how poor some of our fans are. Instead of getting behind them, trying to lift them, as will be needed, those fans booing, etc will only make things worse tho. With I'm sure, the players confidence being a little fragile at the moment, the last thing we need is fans showing negativity.

Blues 1 . What it really shows is how our players and management team need to up their game to stop the rot and the negativity.. These stagnant boring performances are just not acceptable for this club and if the fans rally care they will say what they think.
