Exeter Trip Live on Sky
Thursday, 13th Oct 2022 13:10

Town’s game at Exeter City on Saturday 19th November has switched to a 12pm kick-off for live Sky Sports coverage.

The Blues have had one Sky game in Devon already this season, the 2-1 defeat at Plymouth, and face Derby at home in front of the satellite broadcaster’s cameras a week tomorrow.

Fans won’t need to be reminded that Town have a dismal record in live Sky games having won just one of their last 21 fixtures.

The sky results are a coincidence and not a reason. The time is no issue to us living in Chepstow, but for those travelling from Suffolk it's scandalous to agree to such nonsense.

It's a joke. 2 of the longest journeys and they make them a 12pm kick off! Why not pick the Cambridge or Peterborough games? A lot closer and easier for fans to get to.

.....and they will probably wear that awful 'black' kit too just to make matters even worse as our normal away strip will clash!!

I agree. As is so often the case, there is no thought for the fans in this.

Excuse my ignorance but who makes these decisions? Is it Sky? It's ridiculous and no thought about the fans.

I'm afraid some people have missed the point by not being alert enough. If you look on sky's website they had no fixtures between 13th November and 20th December due to the World Cup. Therefore they we always going to target games in league 1 and 2. Be prepared for more possible changes.

I didn't realise the cameraman had a list of players with pictures, makes sense really just had never occurred to me

That frenetic tapping sound is people like us changing our hotel from Saturday to Friday night.... crap news the change but it has saved us 30 quid.

Sky are utter tossas …. And anyone buying Sky packages, frankly condones their dominance/ control over our game.

Afraid Sky and others help fund the game to some extent and it will only get worse if and when we move up the divisions. Early kick offs on Saturday are nothing new, I can remember before Sky when I was an away regular getting to Anfield for a 1130 kick off because of some horse race. It happens, everyone has a choice whether to go or not.

Not defending Sky but if they didn't have the TV rights, whoever did have the rights wouldn't be doing any different. And they wouldn't be doing it if we a mediocre mid table team. It's a price of success.

Chepstowblue as a fellow resident of the fine town of Chepstow (thought it was just me!!) I had this game down as a banker, as my son plays on a Saturday morning there was plenty of time to pop down the M5 to get to the game. Sky's just well and truly screwed me over. Not happy.

And fair play to all those that travel down from Suffolk, my hat goes off to you, as it did to all those that joined me at Plymouth.

While I do feel sorry for those already with travel plans - it does save many of us a 500+ mile round trip!

Derby to Ipswich on a Friday is worse- their fans will have to take time off work.
Not sure if still the case but the away team for Div 3 sky games used to get 10K£ - cause enough to wear black indeed

As a westcountry born lifelong Town fan let me tell you the real St James Park is always a difficult trip for any team, it will be a tough game regardless of distance. Sky are only interested in money and not football, the decision is a crazy one. On one occasion my trip to Suffolk from Exeter at a weekend took me 8 hours, my advice to Town fans is make a weekend of it with a B&B in my old hometown of Exmouth nearby.
