Caretaker-manager Tony Mowbray said after Town's home loss to Gillingham that he hopes the Blues' directors will appoint someone who is good for the club in the long-term. The former Town captain added that changing the fortunes of a side doing badly can take some while

Mowbray has been keen to get the Town manager's job permanently, however he looks to have failed. He says the board should be looking at a man for the future and not just the short term: "I'd like to think the directors are looking for what is best for this football club in the long term.

"Changing a losing mentality takes longer than one or two weeks. No manager can just flick a switch to change things.

"I think the future at the club can be bright. We have some good young players, and there are plenty of positives."

Mowbray feels Town are inconsistent at present: "We are a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team at the moment. We were poor in the first half but created many opportunities after the interval.

"But it was just not our day. Their goalkeeper made some good stops. Lots of teams don't get what they deserve in football.

The Town defence conceded a goal from a corner, not for the first time of late: "It was the third set-piece goal we have conceded while I have been in charge.

"If I go on about it too much it will create a problem in the minds of players who will become too uptight.

"On Tuesday against Burnley we played with power, pace and passion. I asked for the same again, but there were too many stoppages in the first half when there was no flow at all."
