Fraser's Charlton Move Confirmed
Monday, 31st Jan 2022 13:03

Midfielder Scott Fraser’s move to Charlton has been confirmed, the 26-year-old having agreed a deal until the summer of 2025.

As reported earlier, TWTD understands the undisclosed fee agreed is larger than the sum the Blues paid for the Scot in the summer when he joined from MK Dons.

Fraser told the Addicks club site: “I’m looking forward to playing for Charlton. It’s a big club, an ambitious club and I’m happy to be part of it.

“I’ve spoken to the manager and to [director of recruiting] Steve Gallen — it is a club that has got the ambition to go and do well and that matches mine.”

Charlton boss Johnnie Jackson added: “I’m really happy we’ve been able to bring Scott to the club. He is a player that I have admired from afar for a while, he has such quality and will be an excellent fit in our system.”

Town turned down the Addicks’ initial offer for the 26-year-old at the end of last week before the South Londoners came in with a new bid over the weekend.

Swansea, managed by Fraser’s former MK manager Russell Martin, had repeatedly been linked with Fraser during January, but with the Welsh club never making any contact with the Blues.

Fraser made 18 starts and two sub appearances, scoring once, on his debut, in his short spell at Portman Road.

Blueboy1981 - You raise a good point but what is the big deal if Ashton is “running the joint” and McK is coaching. After the previous managers lack of success a change might be the way forward. Interesting debate though.

BTW Disappointing to see Frazer depart. His goal at the start of the season was class. Unfortunately that probably one of a handful of highlights! Wish him well though.

Good move for all parties
Impossible to keep everyone in a big squad happy if they want to play
Unless some sign for big wages then sit out injured for a year or two just taking the wage
Not saying that is the case with SF
Out of 19 most have settled in and added something to the team
Good luck for the future SF

Played in his right position he will scorch it at Charlton - just watch it happen !!
Like many players in the past we have had, they have been played out of position, and we've never benefitted from them.
Another example of our loss - another Clubs gain !!

Good deal if being honest. Was a passenger in most games and 1 goal in 20 as an attacking player is poor. To recoup our outlay on someone who hasn't performed and plays in a position in which we're overstocked is good business.

Cat - I equally take your point, but I feel it is a ‘big deal' because there appears to be much to be proved in terms of moving this Club forward.
Cook indicated that much was going on over and above his head that he knew nothing about.
If that is the case, how long will that bode well …. ??? - with any Manager.
I can't be the only one who is scratching the head right now - at some of what is going on.
Let's hope it all works out for the best - but I've become non surprised as an ITFC Supporter for over half a century - at anything, and for good reason !!

As promised no response from Blues1 when asked how he knows the players salaries in detail and the clubs FFP limit. Don't pretend to know stuff as FACT unless you are prepared to give evidence. It just comes off as you wanting attention by claiming to be smarter than the rest of us.

McKenna has realized imo that Town are a few cards short of a winning hand (playoffs) and is lightening up the wage bill preparing for the future. Expect more of the loan players to depart soon.
