Former Canaries Boss Linked With Town
Thursday, 9th Dec 2021 23:48

Former Norwich City boss Alex Neil is reportedly keen on the management vacancy at Portman Road.

According to the Daily Record, Hibernian are keen for Neil to succeed Jack Ross, who was sacked earlier today, but Neil is more interested in a return to work in East Anglia, claiming that he is on the shortlist at Town.

Neil was in charge at Carrow Road between 2015 and 2017, taking the Canaries into the Premier League via the 2015 Championship play-off final, having beaten the Blues in the semis.

The 40-year-old was at Hamilton Academical prior to his time with Norwich, while he was subsequently in charge at Preston North End from 2017 until March of this year. Latterly he has been giving advice to his former Mansfield team-mate David Artell at Crewe Alexandra.

Given CEO Mark Ashton’s comments earlier in the week about the recruitment process, the Blues are unlikely to have reached the point of having a shortlist, while fans are unlikely to welcome another manager with connections to their local rivals.

If this happens I think I might just call it a day on supporting Town

It's Mowbray and Venus for me too. Failing that if Mark Venus wants a go on his own I would not be adverse to that. Anyone but Alex Neil.

I am a bit sceptical about this line of no shortlist, we've no-one lined up.

At the least they should have sounded out some candidates before firing Cook.

As long as it's not Warnock or Pulis I don't care if he's managed Norwich. He wouldn't be my choice though partly because some fans will not accept him and we need an appointment that brings back the feel good factor Cook wasted.

No way. Not because he's ex Norwich but because he's not good enough.

Another journeyman manager from the not so magic managerial roundabout so NO. Foreign manager, preferably German.

Only worth considering if he promises to come with assistants Jeremy Goss and Robert Fleck

Please with all due respect no more ex Norwich or Scousers as manager and that includes the current caretaker. We have money so please please consider bringing in the best young coach about Anthony Barry at Chelsea. When Tuchel gives his team talk Barry is next to speak. On his coaching course he was the top man amidst an array of talent from the Premiership. He also has been employed at a part time coach by the Republic of Ireland for the last six months and they have improved beyond recognition. If available it's a no brainer…we took a chance on Robson p,ease bring Barry in

I'd rather have Father Christmas on a short term contract from January until November, as he's always busy in December.

What we need to do is give all those potential managers a 4 game contract and the one with the most points get the job.

I'm not for one minute sating I want Farke or Neil here as manager but unlike some of the small minded people on here I couldn't give a toss if the new manager had links to Norwich or not, as long as we get the right man in for the job

Just simply, NO. No to old ITFC links, too emotional, no to anyone who has managed Norwich. No to Lampard or Terry. No to Neil Harris. My choice and I know it will not be popular is Neil Warnock. Manager who has won the most promotions and would sort the playing side out. 18 month contract, with a place on the board after the 18 months if all has gone well.

Linkboy13. Ur spot on. Like u I'd take farke. Wouldn't want Neill but that's not bcse he's ex norwich. Just think he's arrogant. But ur right, the small minded fans would moan. Dont they get that they dont support norwich, they just worked for them. And it's no different than some1 working for tescos, then going to work for sainsburys. Shouldn't matter as long as do a decent job.
