Training Suspended Due to Blue Action Protest Fire
Monday, 15th Feb 2021 21:51

The Blue Action protest at Playford Road this morning led to a small fire which caused training to be suspended for 10 minutes.

During the protest, which Blue Action filmed and posted on social media, signage on the perimeter was hit by a flare and began burning.

The flames were kicked out by a member of the coaching staff, however, the smoke led to training being temporarily halted for the safety of players and staff. Police are now investigating.

A club statement reads: “There was an incident at the training ground this morning where flares were thrown over a perimeter fence adjacent to the players.

“The flares caused signage on the fence to catch alight and in doing so put our staff at risk.

“The police were called and are investigating the matter. The supporters' group concerned have apologised for their actions.”

With training having to stop for ten minutes the manager was unable to get shooting practice in for his striker. So if we do not score against Northampton tonight PL has a perfect excuse to tell everyone or his assistant or coach might have to relay the message.
No seriously all this not meeting the press, banning reporters etc etc is not doing the club or its supporters any good. If Lee O'Neil could see fit to sit one or two around a virtual table and get this distraction sorted and then hopefully results and performances may improve.
Nothing is ever good with rumblings of discontent in the background. Please get it sorted while there is a slim hope of promotion still around.

Lambert will probably use it as an excuse for the incoming poor performance tonight. Re the protest: KEEP IT UP, WE NEED MORE OF THESE SORT OF DEMONSTRATIONS TO FORCE EVANS' HAND.

Sorry we must have the wettest, sappiest fans out there, I'm embaressed of them. BA show some heart, fight and passion in the face of us being turned into a laughing stock by Evans and all some of you can do is condemn them. Protesting is legal as long as distancing is observed by the way. So so poor, almost beyond words. Without massive change at the club including Lambert and Evans going we will be non league inside 8 years, mark my words. To think some of you so called fans are content with sitting in passive apathy doing nothing yet have the energy to criticise fans who are doing something beggars belief. Unbelievably poor. Keep clapping, stay happy and keep supporting the current status quo all the way into the national league. Ffs

Words fail me. Utterly brainless. Very similar to a lot of the posts on TWTD.

As much as people know my views on evans and lambert this is moronic to say the least and really doesn't help or achieve anything. The first time I'll ever agree with blues1 if anyone condones that then take a long hard look at yourself. People can protest without that!

I hope they find the morons who done this and they get the community service they clearly deserve. Most real fans are busy working not making our club look even more ridiculous off the field than it is making itself look on the field.

These kids need to wake up realise that their actions will do nothing to endear them to real fans. My advice to you (if you are able to read) is stick to practice banging your drums 🪘 for when we return to PR and making your flags to wave in the North Stand!

As my old Sgt Major would say, “Stop behaving like muppets, you are embarrassing yourselves”.

Just to be clear i am not condoning anything that the protesters did - i just said it was bad that it's come to the point where the supporters feel so alienated and ignored that they feel that actions like today is the only way to get the club to listen to them.

desperate people do desperate things - and those things are rarely right !

I don't understand how 11th in League 1 last season was publicly deemed as totally unacceptable in the summer but exactly the same this season is not only accepted it's being wholeheartedly backed by the owner.

here comes the "if you don't support BA, then you're a happy clapper..." posts

I saw this on facebook, responded with a similar vein to most above posts about how this was an embarrassment of a protest in all ways.

I stand by the message, but the delivery was absolutely terrible and does NOTHING for the cause on any front

Ffs let's get this into proportion, you'd probably see more smoke on an allotment on a Sunday morning! As for disrupting training lol that's probably something the club has made up to put them in a bad light. Still, I've had numerous txts from rival fans laughing bout it, so in terms of publicity it's out there and job done. Lambert out!

Borge - it looks like you possibly agree with 95% of my previous post but not the last paragraph.
The last paragraph refers to three things 1) TWTD can't wait to see PL gone - I don't think you disagree with that part. 2) TWTD of course want to be back in the press conferences - so I don't think you disagree with that part either. 3) I didn't say everything was negative put out by TWTD (so no need for me to not read AND GO ELSEWHERE as you politely put it) however if you look at the past few weeks stories impartially, compared to many years previous there is a bit more emphasis on the bad or casual reminding of certain things that I feel have crept in since their ban. It could of course be a coincidence. I say this as a reader of TWTD from day one so feel entitled to an opinion.

You say you don't think I would show the restraint that P & G have - that's rather a silly thing to say without knowing anything about me or what I have had to deal with. The rest of your post was fair, well written and a good exchange of views as this board with genuine ITFC fans should be.

How about TWTD introducing a yellow and red card system (visible) for those daft posters who swear, condone breaking the law and bullying?

Protest, pretend to be passionate, but don't act like neanderthals.Take your brains with you ! Most of the people who engage in this type of activity wouldn't bother if they didnt have their phones with them and it wasnt going straight onto Youtube. It's all about getting their 15mins of fame. Anybody defending this behaviour probably found themselves masturbating over the footage of the insurrection in America !!

Wonder how long these idiots have been ITFC fans . In 60 years of supporting the club this has to be the most idiotic action I have heard of . Get them prosecuted and banned from the club for 5 years - thats if they are even true supporters

Bluearmy_81, it's quite amazing how adamant you are that this action is legitimate and your inference is that you condone this type of action, strange that when an Evans out march was organised you were no where to be seen.
But then, your supporting of "the club you love" is limited to a maximum of 2 or 3 games per season even in normal circumstances, but of course you live too far away!!!
Presumably you are single guy in your mid forties if that's the way you show the love.
Is it your limit to try and incite action rather than be a physical part of it, I assume so bearing in mind all the action that your churlish Facebook page has achieved!!
I assume you can back up your claim that protesting is legal under certain circumstances, please let us know where to find this information.
As I didn't think it was I checked on the Liberty site and this seems to contradict your opinion.

If we really want shambert out/Evans to unzip his eyes, what about peaceful picket lines with signs for anyone trying to attend matches once restrictions get eased. Don't go to the match but picket those trying to get in. That may be a better way to get their attention.

dirtydingusmagee added 12:53 - Feb 16
whilst not condoning this incident in any way it is an indicator of the level frustration that is building up week on week, the apathy of the owner the failings of the manager on and off the field. This is not the club many of us have followed for years [in my case since 1965] The rot needs to be addressed and reversed .TO DO NOTHING, TO SAY NOTHING, IS NOT AN OPTION.

blues1 added 13:04 - Feb 16
Going up. Never heard anything so ridiculous in ny life. So you believe the way to get the message over to Evan's that we want Lambert out, and likely Evan's himself, is to picket fans who want to go to matches to watch their team? Matches theyve paid to watch. Laughable.

First of all, there was no fire, at least not a deliberate or significant one. You're lapping up fake news. The Daily Mail online literally made up a story from presumably what the Club told them.

And secondly I've been invited to 'grow up' for not choosing to demonise a demonstration that was staged so that it's impossible to ignore. Lambert and the Club chose to play victim of those 'violent hooligans' and it set off a TWTD whinge-fest of indignation. Blah blah blah. I've been watching dead rubber Town games on iFollow but now I have renewed interest because each one is now a political event.

Not really, just that I would prefer that to League 2 action or another few seasons in league one with losing all our young players capable now of sending us up. The situation is dire to say the least.

Whatever side of the fence supporters are on, this particular episode demonstrates that the manner in which protests are made is important. It is also abundantly clear from the posts on here that BA81 does not have a real feel for what supporters think and do. The recent EADT poll of 2,500 people showed that 61% of supporters believe that Lambert is at fault for our woes and only 25% blame Evans. The main target therefore has to be Lambert and to take the target down you have to influence Evans. Calling fans idiots for not agreeing with his approach simply destroys credibility in any argument and wreaks of bullying. Town fans are better than that.
