Blues Linked With Young Forest Striker
Friday, 29th Jan 2021 12:07

Town are reportedly considering a loan move for Nottingham Forest striker Will Swan.

The Blues are looking for an additional body up front, who due to the constraints of the salary cap must have been below 21 on New Year’s Day 2020, with Oli Hawkins having undergone knee surgery, Kayden Jackson suspended for the next three games and James Norwood having struggled with a hamstring in recent months.

Earlier today, manager Paul Lambert said Town had missed out on a couple of targets but would continue the search ahead of Monday’s 11pm deadline.

According to the EADT, 20-year-old Swan is a player they are interested in, Forest boss Chris Hughton having made him available for loan.

Swan was elevated to the first-team squad from the U23s in November following impressive performances and eight goals, and subsequently made two Championship sub appearances. In December he signed a contract which runs to the summer of 2024.

In January last year, Swan, who joined the Forest youth set-up in 2014, had a spell on loan with Southern League Premier Division South Truro City and netted twice on his debut against the Metropolitan Police.

We understand Swan is one of a number of strikers the Blues are eyeing ahead of Monday's cut-off.

Seriously! What is the point as the lad will not start and probably only play under 23 games. He might as well stay at Forest.

Wonder if Alan Lee still has a pair of boots!!!!

I hope this guy won't be expected to fight it out up top all on his own!

14 goals for the under 18s in his first season
9 in 9 on loan
8 in 8 for the under 23s
Promoted to first team...

What are you lot expecting from an under 21 year old, seems like the lad just scores against whatever is put in front of him, hate to say this but I understand a lot of you have seen Ipswich as European champions and flying in the top flight but Ipswich are not that team anymore

So what is the difference between this lad and Tyreece Simpson. If we are to get a loan striker in, it needs to be someone with a bit more experience surely, or a whizz kid from a Prem academy

Nobbysnuts, I'm afraid players of the ilk of Murphy, Fraser, Lawrence and Gio are not available for loan at this level. Accepting it is less stressful.

So the chances of getting a Premiership club's youngster has dried up and now we are left with looking for struggling Championship clubs' kids. The pools we are fishing in are getting shallower and shallower.

How much worse will it get if we don't sign him or anyone else. At least this lad has scoring boots. It would be good if he could team up with Tyreece Simpson and make an impact. However Lambert doesn't like two up front, does he?!

Will Gregg of Sunderland is available

Trouble is there aren't any decent L1 strikers available so we're forced to take chance on younger and unproved.
Also our scouting network under Lambert is non-existent so no chance of recruiting from Continent like Brentford/Norwich!!

i just had a nap whilst watching the Sunderland high lights,(Chuckle) and I dreamt that we signed Will Swan. But when he arrived at Town he tripped over the Welcome to Ipswich mat and he is now side-lined for 10 games.

Ha! Made me chuckle any way OldBri.

Could be a rough diamond...who knows. But would have to be exceptional to pay dividends in Lamberts stubbornly persistent and futile formation/tactics

Just clutching at straws now.

This lad would have to be outstanding to make a difference to us and if he's that good why would Forest be putting him out on loan, they could do with a few goals themselves!

Being a supporter of this club now is like watching a much loved friend slowly fading away from a terminal illness. You know what the outcome is going to be, you just don't know exactly when it will happen.

Evans out!

Drinan looked knackered after 10 minutes from the beach so any help we can get has to be a plus.

Swans career has never really got off the ground at Forrest Is Tyreece Simpson still with us hardly setting the world alight in the u23s. I think we just like to patronise the youngsters at times even if they are not good enough.

Just give Tyresse Simpson a run of games.
Give our youngsters 1st Team experience rather than someone elses.
If it is an experienced Striker for a month or two then great, but not someone elses unproven u23 player !!!
