Blue Action Plan Organised Protest
Tuesday, 15th Dec 2020 09:52

Independent supporters group Blue Action has announced plans to hold an organised protest prior to the home game against Swindon Town on Saturday 9th January.

Blue Action was formed at the start of the 2018/19 season in order to try to improve the atmosphere at home games via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs, and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Early on in manager Paul Lambert’s tenure they were invited to the training ground to talk about the atmosphere at Portman Road as the incoming boss sought to improve relations between the club and its fans.

But latterly, with the Blues again appearing to be drifting towards mid-table in League One, they have spoken out about the club’s situation and called for the departure of Lambert on a banner hung on the gates at Playford Road.

They subsequently draped another banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road reading “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”.

They announced the planned demonstration in a statement on their social media accounts this morning.

Still find it bizarre that some people think that sacking the manager won't make a difference.

Lambert has all the tools at his disposal and hasn't got a clue how to use them. Looking at some of the teams around us, they have smaller and less well-known squads but have managers who are able to look at a squad and identify a formation, way of playing and training schedule to get the best out of them. Lambert has never shown any evidence he is able to do that.

Of course, that would then depend on Evans hiring someone competent, he has a poor track record at that at the moment.

I'm desperate for change and anything that facilitates that is fine with me.

the ONLY reason ITFC under Lambert has shown any form is the fixture computer.

Last season we only played bottom half of the table sides up until Christmas

This year we only played the bottom teams in the first ten games.

That's why we are where we are. And we will finish 14th just the same as last year if we're lucky.

Kick him out, 100 games has shown exactly what we have to look forward to the next 100 games.......

Yeah let's just carry on getting behind the team because that's worked for the last 10 or so years. Some people clearly not familiar with Einsteins definition of insanity. Let's get this protest on our fan base has always been way to submissive & that needs to change. Call it entitlement if you wish but football & the world has changed & so has the expectation levels of a number of football clubs who historically shouldn't be fit to lace our boots. Why should we accept that we can't compete with Bournemouth, Bristol City, Preston & Millwall and fall back on the old "We're lucky to have a football club" line. Have some ambition for crying out loud!

All this will do is make the gap between fans and club even bigger. Even if Marcus decides to part company with PL who do you think he would bring in? Well whoever he does it will have to be on the cheap and they won't get a kitty to spend so lets all wake up and realise nothing is going to change for this season at least. Stop moaning and get behind the team and PL going against him and Marcus will only lead to more frustration and I doubt that will help anything.

One or two have mentioned boycotting club etc

Does not work you will never get the numbers

Going back to the John Duncan days the only thing that works is protest in numbers, owners, directors hate it

I wonder if some of the happy clappy brigade are actually budgies,a true fan has to be sick to death of what our club has become.

What really surprises me is some peoples apparent acceptance with the sad and dramatic decline of our beloved Football Club, under Evans reign. You will always get the Happy Clappers that will sit quietly and dare not to demonstrate. Those people need to Wake Up!!

I fully support a lawful/peaceful protest, I will be there, and those that really care about ITFC should turn out too! Well done Blue Action!

Bugs If we had the Cowleys lined up I would be for a change.
Devereuxxx I am always concerned when ME sacks someone, because that means that he will be involved in recruitment, and he has a poor track record in that department.

What a total Embarrassment these fans are. Even worse this type of behaviour is supported on media platforms like this. It helps nothing.

Those who praise Marcus Evans as the Club's saviour must consider what salvation will look like. The impending salary cap and the opportunity to sell off some of our young stars will be good for his bottom line. If enough paying fans still come each week an extended spell in League 1 will be just the ticket. Maybe Colchester the new derby. Keeping company with some wonderful clubs but most of which won't be realistically looking up the leagues toward the Premier. That's your Ipswich under Evans. If you're cool with that just say so.

Blue army Church mouse give me a break I'm all for shouting for progress but don't get what good there is in waving hankies demanding the Manager is sacked. As a poster on here has said what's the plan then ..... sack Mr Evans, break the salary cap, appoint Sir Terry Butcher or Sir George Burley. Glory days are gone for sometime my friend, it's elitism for the few just look at the top of the Championship money talks and we don't have any to spend!

Harleydavidsonblue. You've gone by the squad numbers. Theres 47 players with a number and some of thosexarecoutcon loan or are actually academy players. So the actual 1st team squad is somewhere in the 30s. Not 59+

How can you criticise a demo? It's about time. Evans has ripped the soul out of this club it kills me to watch it's decline. Enough is enough. The players out injured are no better than those playing now. The whole lot want binning and starting again. Excuses of injured players don't cut it because they are all cr@p. Old and taking their wages for doing nothing. The manager is a joke, but then we are a joke club, so what do you expect. Time to stand up and be counted. Evans sort this disaster that you have created out NOW!

Betty blue. Yet again you show how little you k ow about the club u pertain to support. "And we'll finish 14th again like last year". We didnt finish 14th last year. As for ur postcsuggesting fans dont buy season tickets , purchase items from planet blue? Shows what kind of fan you are, thatcyou actually want the club to close down

The subservience and deference from some on here to evans is nauseating. 'Marcus this, Mr Evans that... Wtf?! He's virtually killed your club!! Do you respect anyone just because they have lots of money?! Phillip Green?
Putin? Trump? Mind boggling

Blues1 I stand corrected, Evan so, don't you think that what we've got, we should be able to put 11 players on the pitch that could put a half decent game of football together ?

Moscow Blue Mule and Slade 1

Your comments are a disgrace and you should be ashamed of them.

Moscow, we are the numpties that have allowed our club to turn out like this. To have allowed Lambert to get us relegated without even the slightest fight and to have allowed him to sink us to our lowest depth in living memory by not managing to lay a glove on any teams around us, let alone above us.

Blue action I salute your efforts and i'm sure that they'll be carried out as effectively as how you have managed to bring the fans together throughout Evans' poisonous and toxic regime.

Probably we won´t, but what if things have turned a corner by that stage? And what exactly are they protesting against? Lambert maybe..ok, I´m not sure about him either, but our problems are far bigger than him and I am not sure we have the players to do "it" this season. Evans? Yes, he have made bad decisions, but it happens in football, there are sometimes thin margins between success and failure. He is keeping us afloat at the moment. We are still only a few points from the top spots with over half of the season to go.

I suspect PL will persevere with his one up front. With ten minutes left trailing he'll put two up too late. If he does do this and we draw or lose he just has to go because if we don't win at home to the bottom club even Evans must see the writing on the wall. I do not want us to lose at any cost but this may be the only way forward for the Town to get somebody in with vision and ideas of how to get us out of this league. I am sure PL wants to do this but there has been no sign of this for a long time. Marcus Evans you cannot be happy with how things are so for heaven's sake ACT NOW. The planned protest is a good move but I fear it comes a little too late. IT supporters have always been too tolerant in the face of poor management and it takes a metaphorical slap in the face with a wet kipper to make things happen. The trouble with this is ME keeps choosing the wrong replacements. Does this make him a poor judge of character? Unhappily I think this may be true. Look at his record and quiver with fear. I fervently hope I am wrong.

The decline has been that slow you haven't even noticed it have you?

@Europablue I totally agree that I have a lack of faith that Evans would know who to bring in. He seems to have a worrying cabal of advisors around him, especially those from in the game (Harry Redknapp etc), quite a lot of the 'jobs for the boys' characters. I wouldn't be surprised if Lambert got the job off the back of his last job being in the Premier League, and that was enough to impress Evans. After having his hand burned with Hurst, he might shy away from the Cowleys, Paul Cook etc, and once again move towards some washed up manager with higher league experience (Sherwood, McClaren, someone of that ilk).

Social distancing wont be a problem... for the 2 or 3 people that turn up

ringwoodblue added 15:07 - Dec 15
A really good mix of arguments for and against. As long as those that turn out for this protest do it in a safe socially-distanced way I don't see the problem as fans have the right to express their views peacefully.

I fear that by 9th Jan we will be out of the top six and on the downward-slide to mid-table but suspect that both Evans, Lambert and the others in charge will still be in denial. A very sad state of affairs to be in.
