No Jackson Red Card Appeal
Monday, 24th Feb 2020 13:34

Town have confirmed that they will not be appealing against Kayden Jackson’s red card during Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Oxford. The striker will therefore miss the next three matches.

The 26-year-old was dismissed in injury time for an alleged stamp on U’s skipper Rob Dickie.

“I think it’s the first red card Kayden’s had. He’s not that sort of player,” boss Paul Lambert told the club site.

“The video footage we have doesn’t really show the incident clearly and when you appeal you run the risk of getting an extra game ban.”

Jackson’s suspension leaves the Blues short of numbers up front with James Norwood having undergone groin surgery on Friday.

The former Tranmere man is expected to be out for a few weeks, however, should be back for the end of the season.

“With James missing as well, it does leave us short up top but sometimes adversity can make you stronger and we’ve got to hope it does,” Lambert continued.

“It will be an opportunity for someone else and we have Freddie [Sears] and Bish [Teddy Bishop] back now and we know what they are capable of doing.”

Good, don't need a 4 game ban. We're a dirt side all over the pitch, completely unnecessary.

Surely time for something different? Pair Ben Morris (at least he knows where the goal is) or Freddie with Will Keane. At least try Morris and Sears together, two little ones will hopefully mean we play football and don't hoof it. Bishop and Huws if fit add real creativity and forward momentum. Nothing to lose now so give it a go.

Surely Dobra should be in with a chance of getting in the team now? So many youngsters just being left to rot at the club atm.

Idiot, hope he reflects on his stupidity. He was caught out by Lino but still think that Oxford player over reacted (nothing new there!)
Maybe this will force PL hand with new approach to solve goal drought.

Bit of a blow, because although Kayden is ineffective in about 50% of the situations of potential he finds himself in, he does occasionally do some good work on the wing. HIs pace can sometimes be an asset. (We should keep him upfield when the opposition has a corner.) Time for Freddie to step up?

Freddie can only step up if he's given the chance and in the right position!

So do not pay him for 3 weeks for stupidity if nothing else .

If Freddie plays up front he needs a big physical partner we get out muscled as it is and Freddie just adds to the problem .

I think we've all been there where the game's not going your way, something happens and the red mist descends. Difference is we're not being paid thousands like he is. Kayden will learn the hard way and have to suffer another season in Lg1.

Daft ( as a brush in extra time ? ) and we need to see less needless reaction and many more considered intelligent sharp and purposeful imminently!
Nevertheless a real shame to be without him ,for one must hope that with every match he can continue to learn !

Really don't care Ipswich season is over same as last year just going through motions.

Need to sell Jackson and Keane Sears and Judge and put Lancaster up front with Norwood.
Get rid of Skuse and Chambers and put the youngsters out as they will help us finish mid table like the side we are.

A poor mid table team in the 3rd tier of English football

RIP Ipswich Town

I was a really stupid thing to do. PL defends the player, but he will know it was a correct decision. Clear red card.

I would just play Freddie and Keane up front in a 442, big man little man can work, although this does mean that we need to win all the knock downs to give Freddie a chance. Defensively we need to not chase the ball like the under 9's and mark the runners.

"Adversity can make you stronger"

Flipping well heard it all now. We need something to make us stronger, but I'm not sure losing our two top goalscorers is the way to do it!

Another season of failure realistically over - the prospect of having Sears in his rightful and best position should brighten things up, problem being that Keane isn't strong enough in the air to be an effective partner.
It Freddie stays fit, he'll bag a goal or so - but Keane won't be much help.
Season over guys - now let's experiment - whatever we try can't be much worse than this lightweight shower.

Time for the kids to get their chance now. Shame we do not have a "battering ram" player and clinical finisher in the reserves. Morris, Dobra, have to be given a go as we don,t have good options. I can,t see Sears or Keane doing it anymore. How about training Donacien or Woolfenden to be the big striker this clubs need till end of season, or even throw Chambers up front.. Sad to say, i can see this season just slowly fading away again. My lasting memory will be the hands on head as the other team scores. Evans has failed to help build a good squad and that is his legacy.

Our biggest problem is that we have a one trick pony of a Manager, and that doesn't help. But he sucks up to the players, which some will take in all day long.
Similar in far too many ways to McCarthy unfortunately.
As Mick Mills says - all too casual. And that will not bring success, this season or any other.

Blueboy, season isn't done yet. Not looking good but not done! Could there be a case for bringing Jordan Roberts back from loan? Guess we could if we need cover?
