Vincent-Young Back Out on the Grass
Tuesday, 18th Feb 2020 19:00

Kane Vincent-Young was back training on the Playford Road turf earlier today as he continues his rehabilitation following the second of two groin operations.

Vincent-Young, 23, made a hugely impressive start to his Blues career having signed for £500,000 from Colchester in August.

But he was forced to go under the knife to repair a hernia in October, then needed adductor tendon surgery the following month.

Speaking last week, manager Paul Lambert said he was looking forward to the right-back’s return.

“Maybe the end of the month for him,” he said. “He was great when he was playing and obviously he had the injury and it gave us a blow on that side but predominantly he’s been great, so him coming back is going to be a major plus for us.”

It will be a massive boost for the club when he returns. He could be a key factor for us in the run up to the end of the season. His obvious skill level has been sorely missed. Good luck Kane.

P9 - W7, D1, L1 (and that loss against the present league leaders too). Speaks for itself - repeat that form and we'll be on the way up...

The headline is stereotyping and most likely untrue.

Shameful journalism Phil.

Looking forward to your return Kane, will keep opponents on the back foot and supply decent service to our strikers.

Do not get excited, this has been a serious problem and I would like to think we should wait until he is fit for maybe the play offs or next season. We should not rush him back.

..... so that's mid March then b4 he's likely to be playing a first team competitive game , and he won't be anywhere near up to speed , will he! Oh well .....

Judging by the amount of time it has taken for other players to properly return to action after long-term injuries, I don't expect to see KVY until the end of March but good to see him on the road to recovery. He, Garbutt, Woolfie and Flynnidine ZeDownes have been our best players thus season and Kane could be the only one of those at the club next season if we're not promoted.

Some of you need a reality check if you think KVY is just going to bounce back into the team like he was never out of it . Of course I want him back in the dude like everyone else , and yes it's “ good news” thst he's back in grass. But for the live of God , can't you see he will as rusty as hell!

Down arrow at your leisure guys 👍

Season after season we get to Spring and start wondering if we should just bag this season and focus on the next. We must work change things and hope to be a bit luckier with injuries as it is almost impossible to be successful when you constantly waiting on players to return, playing them into form etc. Get well Kane and take as long as you need.....yes, i do have one eye on next season....not because I think we will fail to gte promotion, but because either way we will be relying on KVY next season and looking for a similar player for the opposite flank.

Looking forward to him returning to his former form but it does however highlight how poor the team must be if we believe that we rely on KVY to return to regular winning ways. I suspect we might be disappointed when it doesn't instantly happen, and that pressure isn't helpful to a player when returning from a serious medical side-liner.
Whats the plan B Mr Lambert if that happens again and why didn't we have that plan B and use it in the first place?

Fingers crossed that we don't rush him back too soon & then he breaks down again, given our history with injured players over the past few years.

Armies. I get what ur saying. But not every player takes time to get back to their best after injury. Lambert said last week that hes a naturally fit guy and hes been working hard to stay fit. And look at the likes of kevin Beattie. Had numerous bad injuries, always came back firing on all cylinders. George burley had a long spell out with an injury. When he came back ud never have known hed been out. So its far from definite that kvy would be any different. Have to wait and see.

...rushing the team back into the Championship is what bothers me.

If he hadn't got injured he would have been player of the season by a long way, class above any one else at the club.
