Donacien Looking Forward to Sunderland Trip
Wednesday, 5th Feb 2020 16:28

Full-back Janoi Donacien is hoping to return to the Blues’ line-up for Saturday’s game against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Gwion Edwards has recently been operating at right wing-back but the Welshman is suspended for two games having picked up his 10th booking of the season at the weekend, while Kane Vincent-Young is not expected back after his groin surgery until later this month.

"Sometimes you're in the team and sometimes you're out of it. That's football," the St Lucia-born defender told iFollow Ipswich.

"With Gwion being out I might get a look-in and these are the games I want to be playing in.

"I've always said wherever the gaffer wants me to play, I'll do it to the best of my ability. The team is what matters.

"We won at the Stadium of Light when I was on loan at Accrington last season, so I'd love to repeat that.

"We know it'll be tough, though, because they're a big team and they'll be up for it.

"It's an opportunity for us to start winning games again and we're looking forward to it."

Donasien should have replaced Garbutt on Saturday just like Dozzell Kenlocks not physically up to playing senior football.

Bobblehat - Neither accurate in your summation nor witty repartee.

Fans/bloggers are allowed to voice their opinion if they are discontent with the current situation(providing they are adhering to the the site rules). If you wish to alter the reality that is your decision.

Im not going to bother responding to you again, happy for you to have the last word.

Nine days ago we were top of the league and there wasn't a single dissenting voice on here. We've now lost twice to top four sides and reading the latest comments anyone would think we're relegation material. Against Peterborough we needed our 11 best players but due to injuries we had about 7 after Garbutt went off.

ITFC which was exactly my point . It's not a criticism , I liked the upbeat ITFC73. My point was u have changed your opinion several times and Gravy boat said I was incorrect.

Donacien should never be allowed anywhere near the first team . He has been a liability for all of his time at the club .

Meekreech - you obviously haven't seen him play in his rightful and best position.

I went into the R'ham and P'boro games expecting us to get at least something from both. We didn't. Now I'm going into the Sunderland game expecting zilch. Hope I'm wrong again.

Very easy to say we need to pass the ball on the deck when the players are unable to complete this simple task, or even control it if it happens. It's a standard of football where even the basics look difficult. At least when the ball's flying over the stand we don't look quite so embarrassing.

I agree with earlier poster that Norwood should start. Would pair him with Jackson but would like to see Keane replace Judge and have Freddie on the bench ready for the last 25 minutes. I feel that Keane could add value holding the ball up and playing forward to Jackson and Norwood.........

Sunderland have won precisely 50% of there home games and have only lost once at home; we've lost only 25% of our away games; its got 1-1 or 2-2 written all over it - frankly I'd take a draw right now thanks very much.

Gazelle are you ok? We haven't beaten ANY top 8 team so that is a cause for concern it would show me that unless we finish in automatic promotion spoilt that we'll struggle in the playoffs. Again NOT ONE TEAM IN THE TOP 8! And don't you think other teams have injuries stop making excuses it's a below average league and let's be honest we beat Lincoln recently 1-0 in possibly our best performance according to manager and players even Southend beat them weekend just gone so let's not get excited our team is average and there's possibly 4/5 players who would cut it in the championship one of those is Garbutt who isn't even ours!
