Blackpool Linked With Nolan Move
Sunday, 26th Jan 2020 10:50

Blackpool are reported to be keen on a move for Blues midfielder Jon Nolan.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the Tangerines, who are 15th in League One, are willing to pay a significant sum for the 27-year-old as they look to add creativity to their side as they attempt to ignite a promotion push in the second half of the season.

Nolan hasn’t featured for Town since the 0-0 Boxing Day draw with Gillingham, however, it would be a surprise if manager Paul Lambert were to be willing to allow the former Shrews man to leave, particularly having let fringe midfielder Idris El Mizouni join Cambridge on loan.

Liverpudlian Nolan is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further year. The January transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday evening.

For a significant fee I would let him go. But not last minute as it won't make any difference ,, needs to get sorted ASAP so he can give Lambert the fee!

Having said that, I suspect it's just paper talk!

Maybe this is why Dozzell hasn't been allowed out on loan? Surely Bishop, Skuse and Dozzell are more than enough to cover our 3 currently in the starting 11. I make that 2 players for each position in the centre of the park even if Nolan goes

Actually don't think he'd be too great a loss ;hasn't shown us a great appetite ,nor a scoring ability .
Not too certain either if he is really enjoying being in East Anglia ,
We shall see ; regular footy would do him only good ,and money in would do us good !
I'm sure PL & Co have well thought through plans ,

don't think he has ever settled for us, plenty of running with no real end result mostly, if it's a good fee let him go and give Lambert the money.

Like Toto, towards the end of last season looked like he'd come on.

I don't think we've seen the best of him in his time here and given the fragile nature of our MF (lets hope Huws and Bish are over that but still a worry) I'd only let him go if it means someone else comes in. Our MF is overs stocked but I'd rather see Dobra get out on loan too, so keep Nolan until we know our situation next season.

Thats said it depends how Blackpool define a significant fee, if it was anywhere near what we paid, which I doubt, then have to look at it, we hugely overpaid and I'd be amazed if we got much more than £500k to £750k for him.

Not in the side at the moment doesn't make him a bad player very good cover for Huws and Judge and has a better goal scoring record. Don't think Dozzell is up to playing senior football yet is Bishop going to stay fit Scuse not getting any younger. I would keep him unless he wants to go he's a very competent player and now Lambert's stopped the rotation system he would look much better if he got back in the team .

It's just paper talk, so unlikely.

But I'd see him off. Might be what we need to get Garbutt in, and most of us would take that surely?

Could be a good move for all parties.

Nolan's a willing trier, but I remain convinced that we're not really going to be moving forward properly until all the Hurst signings have gone (although Jackson is threatening to win me over...).

I am obviously in the minority, but I would keep him. Think there's a player in there to be fair to him. He really started to kick on and If we are going to keep the ball on the floor then he's good for that reason

The only thing that makes me wary of selling Nolan is our ability to hold onto our better midfielders. If we lose any of them we will need Nolan !

I think at his best he's capable of being a bog standard championship level player..... but he's effectively league one. I'd be happy to keep him but If selling him allowed Lambert to bring in someone more needed to get us up then I'd be happy. He's not as good as Bishop, Dozzell or Skuse and they can't get in the side. I'd pick Dobra over Nolan given the extra he offers.

Possibly our most improved player second half of last season. Unfortunately he's probably too far down the pecking order to get many chances this time around. He's good enough for our squad especially as Downes is one card away from a two match ban but it'll take that and an injury to Scuse or Huws for Nolan to get a start. I wouldn't be surprised if he moved on.

Lightweight. Drifts in and out of games. Not too bothered whether he stays or goes

Never really impressed me and if we paid £1.2 million for him we were robbed!

If we can get it done in time to re-invest it this month then i'd do it.

He's been far too powder-puff for my liking since day 1.

Personally I wouldn't see him, think he's a good player but on the other hand if he's not playing games he may feel a move is the right thing to do. We do have a lot of midfielders in our squad so it would free up a chance for someone else to get in. If we get an injury Nolan can easily be the quality replacement for someone. If we sell him do we or can we replace him.
Shame if he goes but would understand if we do sell him. If Huws wasn't playing so well in the team at the moment, then Nolan would be the other midfielder for me with Downes.
We will see but hope he stays!!

It's not entirely correct to saythat he "hasn't featured" recently, as he was on the bench on Saturday. There were some concerns about Huws coming up towards half time and Nolan would have been the best replacement at that time, given the way that Town were set up. Makes perfect sense to keep him as a squad member who is well suited to a pressing game.

Been on the bench last few games, so I suspect Lambert has him down as our 4th best centre midfielder. Suspect that means he's unlikely to be going anywhere...

It would seem that some people don't rate players just because they are signed by Paul Hurst. Nolan has been very good at times for us but has suffered from the rotation policy
5 Goals in 42 Apps, where as Judge who HAS been poor since signing with 1 goal from 42 Apps, however as Judge is not a Hurst signing...can do no wrong !!!
Would keep Nolan as offers more than players that need to be faded out such as Skuse
