Millwall Facing Competition From Cardiff and Blackburn for Bialkowski
Monday, 6th Jan 2020 11:13

TWTD understands Millwall are facing competition for on-loan Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski from Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.

Bialkowski is currently on a season-long loan with the Lions where he has enjoyed a very successful first half of the campaign and quickly become a fans’ favourite. The keeper is believed to be very happy at the Den.

However, we understand the Blues would like to cash in on the 32-year-old this window, in which he can be recalled, with Cardiff - who are now managed by Neil Harris, the man who brought Bialkowski to Millwall in the summer - very keen to sign the Polish international with West Ham believed to be eyeing a move for their current keeper Neil Etheridge, who was interesting Aston Villa in the summer.

In addition to the Bluebirds, Blackburn, who were among those eyeing Bialkowski in the summer, have also made their interest known to Town, while Millwall will almost certainly look to make him a permanent member of their squad rather than risk losing him.

Speaking about Bialkowski’s future in November, Town manager Paul Lambert said it was certainly possible that clubs other than Millwall could show interest in the former Notts County and Southampton man once the window opened: “They could come and buy, especially if he’s playing well.”

Lions boss Gary Rowett had previously said that he wasn’t aware that Town had plans to recall Bialkowski in order to sell him but was making contingency plans just in case.

“There are certain things in the agreement that I’m aware of. It’s a case of seeing what happens,” he told London News Online.

“It is what it is. We don’t want to lose Bart — he’s a very, very good player. He’s performed very, very well for us. But at the same time we also have to have a plan in case something happens in that sense.

“Our intention is that hopefully he is here as our goalkeeper — because he’s been great — and the lads love him as well.”

Bialkowski, who is on Town’s most lucrative current contract which runs until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further season, joined Millwall on a season-long loan in July, a permanent £900,000 move having broken down the previous month due to concerns regarding his knee which emerged in a medical.

Meanwhile, the Blues had a scout at Sunday’s Leeds United-Hull U23s fixture at Thorp Arch which the West Yorkshiremen won 5-0.

Elsewhere, former Town striker Marcus Bent, 41, has joined Thurlow Nunn League Division One North side Cornard United.

Good start the auction - Millwall have been tweeting how magnificent he's been all season.

Now they'll have to pay the going rate. Hopefully more now than we originally accepted.

Knowing Ipswich they will take 5,000. This time round that what usually happens .We never seem to get the full value for anybody.

very poor in his last season with us... any money for him is a bonus to reduce the debt

Tractorboy; ask yourself if there could possibly have been any reasons why Barts form dipped so alarmingly after such a consistent set of performances prior to the dreaded PH and Co most definitely causing an upset !
BB is a good man and it's very good to see him back on top form : let's wish him well for the future ,he'd surely always be welcome back !

Why is Evans looking to sell him in Jan?! Other than maybe Bishop, he's the only Championship quality player we have at the club - we should be looking to keep hold of players like Bart!

If we don't get promoted this season then fine sell him in the Summer, when who knows his value might even be higher if Millwall make the playoffs?!

If we do get promoted then surely he's our first choice keeper in the Chmapionship with Holy as backup.

The whole thing reeks of Evans trying to get any transfer fee at the first sniff of money, just like he tried to in the summer with Bart. Clearly ME hasn't learnt his lesson from the likes of Webster etc!

If PL does not trust Holy, and Norris is clearly a liability, then why are we not recalling Bart and PLAYING HIM !

He has his confidence back and it must be better than sticking some cash in MEs back pocket which PL will never see anyway!

Bring him back and play him. Lambert obviously isnt convinced by either of our current keepers. Norris can go back then, because he is too much of a butter fingers. 5 years, god help us! Evans you muppet.

Marcus Bent has still probably got a better touch than Kayden Jackson!

A keeper is only as good as his defence in front of him that's why Pickford at Everton has had his problems. Last season Bart was playing with a load of muppets I'm not surprised he's a wanted man he's in the top five keepers in the championship.

Daydreaming if anyone thinks we'd recall and play Bart. I'd really love it, but the fact is, he's
On too much money and Evans is desperate to recoup anything he can from our club. I'd say no players are off limits if anyone bids 500k plus. Sad, but that's the reality of where we are under this owner

Another player off then with the proceeds in Evan's back pocket without investment in the playing staff.

Makes me all laugh the way you all go on about Evans's and he is pocketing all the cash from the sale of players.
Have any of you got a budget for you day to day life ?
Well that's how the club is run.
We have a budget and sticking to it is a priority for this club too stay afloat so if that means selling our best players ,people Sean to forget we don't have the income from the TV, we get more money being in the championship rather than league one.
Bart is a quality keeper and the reduction of his wages from the wage bill will be welcome considering 20k a week x52 is a huge wedge for us to pay every year.
We are where we are right now so mediocre players are what we can expect to bring in.
We might loose a couple more in this window, but don't expect anything remarkable to happen for the replacements who come in.
A sad time for the club but realistically it is what it is.

Holy is a good keeper, who's done little wrong. But we will need cover if Norris leaves. Bart won't be coming back.

Excellent keeper...if keeping him is out of the question then selling would be good for clubs coffers and big reduction to wage bill. For my part really like Holy as our number one anyways so sounds good.

Terrible the way people on here treat him like a piece of meat. He has a family which no one seems to appreciate. I wonder how they would feel if their employer said sorry mate I am transferring you to god knows where like it or lump it.

Amazing how fans of this Club turn on players after they leave for whatever reason, I remember well the scathing criticism McGoldrick got with many saying he was finished, and wouldn't be heard of again - I predicted the opposite - and where is he now ???
What the numptys didn't understand was, that like many other players at ITFC he was often played totally out of position, and hardly if ever, played to his strengths.
Forget Bart' ever returning, he became disillusioned with the Club just like McGoldrick. A return will never happen, and he is a far better keeper than either of what we have now.
We are a delusional Club in so many ways, season after season - just look at the current situation to prove the point - we all too often talk the talk from both management and players, but do little more than dream of walking the walk.
This trait will be difficult to shake off, the longer it goes on.

...... !!!!! - as if Holy and Norris are not on mega bucks ??
Get real people - study the size of our playing budget compared with MANY other Clubs ? - 43xProfessionals, 21xSenior squad members ... !!!
We're not exactly paying out peanuts - but based on the above, WE SHOULD BE DOING BETTER.

Music to Evans ears. More competition equals chance of more money - none of which is likely to be reinvested into the playing squad.
