Town Linked With Ross County Defender
Tuesday, 24th Dec 2019 10:31

Town and Rotherham United are reported to be showing interest in Ross County central defender Tom Grivosti, who is about to enter the final six months of his contract with the Scottish Premiership side.

According to the Daily Record, the Staggies are to begin talks regarding new terms with the 20-year-old but with the Blues and Millers among several English clubs eyeing his situation.

Liverpool-born Grivosti, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury, started his career with the Bolton Wanderers academy before moving on to his current club where he broke into the first team last season during their Scottish Championship title campaign. Grivosti has now made 23 senior starts and six sub appearances, scoring once.

Town making a move for another centre-half in January would be a surprise unless one of the four current senior central defenders were to depart.

The numbers suggest otherwise! However of the four only one is really comfortable if we want to play football from the back. And one most of us would only pick in an absolute emergency, so yes to getting someone in and yes to getting at least one out. Whether this lad, at 20, is the answer at present is a different question.

Ah ha ‘side lined with foot injury' so how long would it take for him to be fit if he did come?

Item tells little about this man's all round ability ; has PL seen him on trips to S ?
At 20 yrs old must yet have.development potential ,and must be a physical presence ,for that's what we need .
I guess most will be unloading TN ,in their minds eye !

We have one very promising, up and coming CB. One who isn't very good and two very average CBs.

We could do with a new CB in my view, but agree one would have to depart first.

Whoever we get in will look like a world beater for a month, get crocked, partially recover, get crocked again, go abroad for a mystery operation, spend 6 months getting fit again, be half the player they were, get crocked again, 9 months out, come back, play a handful of games before being released . Always seems to happen.

Main priority must be strikers.

Barty - don't think there is anything wrong with our strikers, rather the service or lack of it is the problem, no creativity whatsoever is reason we are scoring so few

Dont agree its a surprise as we need a bit of quality at the back and have done since the start of the season, quite ok with me if Wilson and/or Toto moves on . Just hope there is money in the budget to get a couple of deals done ?

Jimmyjuan you missed out the bit that after being released they play a whole season for their new club with no injury and a pivotable role in their promotion.

Most fans see Toto as a yellow card at least waiting to happen. In some cases he has been booked harshly e.g. Staff Wed last season when Forestieri clearly dived when TN got the ball first. He admits he has had anger management issues which spilled out on the pitch sometimes. He has had professional help with them and has been given tools to keep them in check. He was immense in the air at Portsmouth and playing very well until subbed. That booking seemed harsh too.

Can't see this happening people naturally think we're not scoring goals sign a striker. But those of us who have played the game can see we are not creating enough i think we need one if not two attacking midfield players with strength and pace and get rid of the dead wood who have been here too long and not performing.

We don't create much....but to be fair Norwood could easily be on 20 this season at the moment rather than 8...

There have been a few games where we have created a lot...but in those games the finishing has been generally woeful...

Return of Sears badly needed...as is a return to form for Huws....alongside Vincent-Young again at RB...

We can turn this situation back around...but we need to stick with a continuous starting 11...playing with the formations and different players every match isn't paying dividends...

Please put Toto and Chambo out to grass.Think we should cast our eyes over the Colchester Squad at the moment,There are few players there that are better than what we have .I would bring back Tom Eastman as well ,Solid as ever and knows how to a score a goal as well,

Don't think this guy would provide the instant impact that we really need. We should sell Toto and replace him with Tommy Smith on a free.

Also, sell Donacien as the systems that we have used mostly involved attacking fullbacks. Would replace him with young attacking right-backs like Ng or Knoyle from Cambridge.

Same with left-backs. Would be interested in James Husband from Blackpool or Ryan Haynes from Newport.

A return for Tommy Smith would give us the quality we need. He is still at an age where he has several good years ahead of him and would give us him (left cb), Woolfie, Wilson and Chambo (until the end of this season). Looking at things now and ahead I think that Toto is too much of a risk in important games sadly.
Freddie returning will give us some punch up front if he is played as a specialist striker. I am still optimistic that we can win this league but do need PL to reduce the amount of "rotation"..........

Linked with injured players, that about says it all. Clueless from top to bottom.

Wouldn't it be easier to concentrate on playing a proper established starting 11 first ??? .... An 11 that are actually used to playing competitive football together

If we sold the Wolf, I would be very, very, very disappointed!
