Bialkowski Not Expecting Town Recall
Saturday, 7th Dec 2019 09:07

On-loan Blues keeper Bartosz Bialkowski has no expectation that Town will recall him in January in order to play him.

The 32-year-old is due to stay with the Lions for the season but there has been speculation that he may be brought back to Portman Road when the transfer window opens, perhaps to complete a permanent switch elsewhere, while Paul Lambert has expressed his concerns that Will Norris may be recalled by Wolves.

“I don’t think they are gonna call me back and play me,” the Polish international told the London News Online. “We need to wait and see what happens.

“I came here for a year and whatever happens, happens. I’d like to stay here. I’m really enjoying my life here — the work with LT [Lee Turner] the goalie coach as well.

“As a footballer when you go into a new place you’re doing everything you can to blend into the group and make the club better. That was it.

“The lads are fantastic and the atmosphere is very good, especially at home. The fans can be our 12th player.

“On the one hand it doesn’t bother me [that his long-term situation is not clear] but in the other it’s my future. I’m 32, I’ve got a wife and kids — I’ve got to look after them as well.

“If you get a chance you’ve got to secure that future. I’m playing, I’m playing well and hopefully the two clubs can do something about it.”

Speaking yesterday, Lambert said there had been no talks with Millwall about whether they might sign him on a permanent basis in January.

“No, we don’t know yet,” he said. “The situation is that there is still a few weeks on that, so I’m pretty sure [general manager of football operations] Lee [O'Neill] will deal with that side of it.”

No thanks, just sell him and put money towards a much needed striker.

Some things in football follow a natural course. Much as Bart made a huge contribution here, and was totally committed to the cause, probably right for him and the club to move on. Any income generated from his sale must be reinvested wisely to strengthen for a concerted crack at getting back to the Cship ASAP. No ifs or buts! COYB.

Slightly misleading headline? Bart says 'I don't think they are gonna call me back and play me' but nothing about recalling him and selling him...

Yeah he used to say the same here, he's moved on and so should we. M

Had good games in our shirt, had a horror show last season and, in truth, sometimes better to draw a line.

ITFC will look to sell him. Will still be costing us money in terms of wage.

As he's now proved his fitness and ability to Millwall, we should demand top dollar.
Or sell him elsewhere - even though I really liked him.

Good goalie but his time at our club is now history. Like many couldnt understand why Mccarthy thought Gerkin was a better keeper.
Sell him & reinvest the money.

I agree We Were Zombies, it reads to me like whatever happens, he won't be pulling on a Town shirt again. He will only be recalled to sell, and he clearly wants to stay at Millwall. Whatever happens we must get a reasonable fee and not let his contract run down. We need funds for a new striker if none of Norwood, Jackson, Keane or Sears perk up and/or if we don't get promoted this season.
