Yawn. It's a joke this cup - can't believe more of our fans aren't boycotting it? wake up: you're being played by Premier League money clubs by dangling a prospect of Wembley at you - which may very well be against Man City U21s. What a comedown. It'll be U21 teams in the league in five years if we don't take a stand.

Why is it a joke, I bet our young guns who are gaining all this match experience aren't thinking that.

@Gazelle. If you think it's acceptable that an U21 Man Utd side can be playing a first team League One side on the same night that they are playing a first team game in the Premier League then fine. I see it as an insult to all of us proper fans who support proper clubs This is an U21 competition but we're not allowed to call it that and there are rules to stop us playing a fully U21 side ourselves.

For us it's hopefully going to be a one-season wonder and we'll get back up, but it's eroding the status and respect of all other League One and League Two clubs who are meant to gratefully provide target practice for the Premier League sides who buy up (steal?) all the good young players and sparingly pass them out to us poorer cousins. Remember the only reason this is happening is to try and ease the REAL intention of the Premier League and EFL which is to get B-teams in the lower leagues - that was very clearly what was put forward in 2014/5 and this was a sop to stop it.

But hey, if Town fans are all so starved and desperate to go to Wembley under any circumstances then fine. But not for me - I'll wait for us to get there for the real deal thanks. I went to the last final with a Barnsley mate when this competition still had integrity and a proper place to give lower league teams some success not just serving the interests of the Premier League.

I'd be happy for Town to get to Wembley in this competition because, lets face it, we will never, ever get there in the FA and EFL Cups.
