Tractor Girls Hit 17 in Suffolk FA Women's Cup
Sunday, 17th Nov 2019 19:41

ITFC Women thrashed AFC Kesgrave 17-0 as they continued their sixth successive defence of the Suffolk FA Women’s Cup at Kesgrave High School this afternoon.

Natasha Thomas, who was making her 100th appearance for the club, netted six, Zoe Cossey three, skipper Amanda Crump two and Aimee Stretch, Chloe Dunn, Amy-Leigh Abrehart, Paige Wakefield and Ellie Rossiter one each, while the other was an own goal.

“What a feeling it is to reach my 100th appearance for this club,” Thomas, 23, said.

“It’s such a privilege walking onto the pitch with the girls every week and wearing the Ipswich shirt fills me with pride. Here’s to many more games!”

Meanwhile, Maria Boswell and Anna Grey were on target as Town’s U21s beat Everton 2-1 in the WSL Academy League at Playford Road this afternoon.

The girls seem to be making a name for themselves. Maybe they should have eased off a bit here, though? Or maybe we should have played our third team against this opposition? -:)

To be fair, we did sort of ease off in the second half. We voluntarily played the second half with nine players, two players went down to Playford Road at half time to play the U-21s game. Yet we still scored eight goals without reply in the second half even with two players less! I felt a bit sorry for the Kesgrave girls. They tried their best but the gulf in quality was so vast it was a bit farcical really.

it sounds like an embarrassing "competition", hopefully they can play some teams of a similar standard

The league and FA Cup are much more competitive. It's only the county cup that's not competitive cos none of the other teams are up to Ipswich's standard.
