Dobra and Folami Called Up
Wednesday, 30th Oct 2019 14:25

Armando Dobra and Ben Folami have been named in the Albania U19 and Australia U23 squads respectively.

Dobra, 18, who has previously won four U19s caps, will be with the Albanians for their European Championship qualifiers in Belgium when they take on Greece on Wednesday 13th November, the hosts three days later and Iceland on Tuesday 19th November.

As a result, the forward will miss the Leasing.com Trophy visit to Colchester on Tuesday 12th November.

Town’s game at Oxford on Saturday 16th November appears certain to be postponed due to call-ups.

Folami and the rest of the Olyroos squad will be in China for friendlies against Costa Rica, North Korea and the hosts.

The games are part of their preparations for the AFC U23 Championship in Thailand in January in which the Australian youngsters will face the hosts, Iraq and Bahrain in the group stage.

The competition doubles as the qualification process for the Olympics in Tokyo in the summer of 2020.

The 20-year-old striker recently won his first cap at U23 level in a 2-1 defeat to Iran in Doha, Qatar.

Dobra and Folami haven't started a game all season, Judge is not a regular, the other call ups, Dozzell and Huxs aren't in the side either. Why postpone the Oxford game? At this rate we have only 1 league game in the next month and will possibly be 4th or 5th by then. Bearing in mind our record after international breaks, a ridiculous decision if/when it is postponed.

Clearly Folami is irrelevant and Dobra is too really but we are likely going to be without Downes Georgiou Judge and Dozzell. Not all starters I know but I'd argue why should we be at any disadvantage however small if we don't have to be?
In the previous breaks, ours has not been the only game called off, I haven't checked but I'm assuming everybody is calling off if they can, are they all wrong too?
I get the momentum thing and partly agree and I hate the breaks like everybody else, but if anyone has momentum at the moment it's Oxford. If we break their momentum by cancelling isn't that just another advantage?

We shouldn't be worrying about other teams (example Oxford) next thing Lambert will be moaning about playing two games a week . We were awful against Doncaster and lucky to get a point, and lost to a very poor Accrington team after international breaks hardly promotion form so let's just get on with it.
