Lambert and Jackson Nominated for Awards
Wednesday, 11th Sep 2019 09:37

Boss Paul Lambert and striker Kayden Jackson have been shortlisted for the Sky Bet League One Manager and Player of the Month awards.

Town ended August top of the table having taken 14 points from their six league games, a club record in the opening month of a campaign, having won four and drawn two.

Lambert is up against Danny Cowley, who left Lincoln for Championship Huddersfield earlier in the week, Blackpool’s Simon Grayson and Mark Robins at Coventry.

Jackson, who scored four and recorded one assist in August, is nominated alongside Rochdale’s Ian Henderson, Lincoln keeper Josh Vickers and Peterborough midfielder Marcus Maddison.

The Championship version of the awards last came to Suffolk in December 2015 when both Mick McCarthy and Daryl Murphy carried off the gongs.

The winners of both categories will be announced at 6am on Friday morning.

Lambert for manager of month

Would suspect Maddison will take the players award - 3 goals and 5 assists in 6 games.

Hendo at Rochdale would be a deserving award for such a great longstanding professional----Jacko has plenty of time to scoop this on numerous occasions.

Lambo is a no brainer----just compare the club this time last year to now-----it is not just about results, he has literally rebuilt the club single handedly and deserves a Knighthood!!

Who would of believed this from a year ago,Jackson belief rebuilt confidence sky high and a manager for the best of the month, and we surely could easily had Norwood and Downes in there, pleased Cowley has gone to pastures new.Actually looking forward to a visit to Portman Rd for the first time in 3 1/2 years.Razor your spot on is Henderson the same one whose leg was shattered years ago

Downes would have been our most deserving nominee, but I'm pleased for Jackson who has been a reborn player so far this season.
I was delighted with the signing of Norwood & think he is exactly the type of forward we needed, but if I'm honest he has not been as good & clinical a finisher as I was hoping for, or indeed expected ... and this despite the fact that he is the division's leading scorer,
I really liked the instinctive goals he scored last season at Tranmere & am sure he can up his chances to goals ratio as the season progresses, but I am less sure that he could be a 20 goals+ striker at Championship level than I was before the season started.
To be fair, he has worked well with Jackson & this has helped Kayden show us what he can do and maybe their partnership is the big plus of the season so far; but perhaps 5 goals is not as impressive a return, from the opportunities that have fallen to an "out & out goalscorer", as it looks at first glance, ... maybe, maybe harsh?

If they win it's usually the kiss of death.

Lambert deserves more then manager of the month, he deserves a knighthood, coming in telling the owner a few home truths, getting the fans back on side. basically turning this club around and out of a downward spiral.

I think it will be a huge crowd on Saturday, and it will be buzzing, because of what Lambo has done.
Can't thank the man enough, we love him and he loves us.

@Len Brennan, I think that is a bit harsh tbh, its still very early on in the season and don't forget Norwood is stepping up a league. Fully appreciate your opinion though.
I've just read your comments again though and you've pretty much said the same

@LenBrennaan, you make some good points and i agree, with the opportunities that have fallen to Norwood he could be on double figures already, i dont think you are being Harsh, in fact Norwood himself would agree! And personally i dont think he is a great penalty taker.

Back on Subject, these awards are normally the kiss of death, so dont care if others win them, i dont think Lambert will be too bothered either!

Tranmere fans where saying when we signed Norwood that he is not a clinical finisher in fact that he misses quite a few chances but he also keeps going and has the knack of getting in the right place at the right time . Im not sure of his record on Pens from the past but he is keen to take them so that is half the battle i suppose but Tommy Miller he aint . But you just got to love him .

I was a critic of Jackson. Despite our all round failings last year, i felt he was an poor signing. He couldnt control the ball, pulled out of tackles, didnt get in goalscoring positions and was as much of a threat as a basking shark. You can argue that Lambert has reinvigorated him but it appears the player has taken it upon himself. He looks sharper, stronger and hungrier. Im really pleased for Kayden and it would be fantastic if he won the award.

With reference to Norwood....i saw him play live on a number of occasions as my friend is a Tranmere supporter and was chuffed we signed him, he has a good touch, skilful and battles for the ball. I agree he should have taken more of the chances that have come his way but he has done brilliantly. Only a handful of games in and hes creating chances and scoring goals.........and that is what we have been lacking. So get behind him and Kayden and may the goalscoring streak continue!
