Roberts Among Potential Deadline Day Loan Exits
Monday, 2nd Sep 2019 10:57

Jordan Roberts could be among the players moving out of Portman Road on loan ahead of today’s 5pm transfer deadline for League One and Two clubs and TWTD understands League Two Colchester United showed strong interest in the Blues forward last week.

We understand that proposed move is now unlikely to go ahead, the U's signed Theo Robinson on loan from Southend last Thursday, although it’s not impossible that it could be revived, while other clubs are also keen on the 25-year-old, who was left out of the matchday 18 on Saturday and watched the 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury from an executive box.

Roberts, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Lincoln, looks likely to be on the periphery if he remains with the Blues during the campaign ahead, particularly since the re-signing of Will Keane.

A free recruit after leaving Crawley in the summer of 2018, Roberts has made two appearances this season, a minute as a sub in the league against Sunderland and the full 90 minutes at Luton in the Carabao Cup.

Among the other players who could potentially go out on loan today are right-back trio Josh Emmanuel, whose former Rotherham boss Paul Warne played down the chances of a return to the Millers over the weekend, Janoi Donacien and Barry Cotter.

Despite today’s deadline, Town will still be able to send players out on loan to the National League, which may be a more likely destination for youngsters such as Cotter, Corrie Ndaba, Bailey Clements, Armando Dobra or Harry Wright.

The Blues are not expected to make any signings today, although manager Paul Lambert hasn’t entirely ruled it out should someone he feels could improve his squad become available, more likely a loan than a permanent addition.

We don't need any more players. I'm very happy with the squad that we have. It would be great to get a few out on loan but not the end of the world if we don't as that is what games like tomorrow night are for.

And the early FA Cup rounds as well of course when there are restrictions on who we play. We can always loan some out in January if we are out of both competitions by then.

I would say we have done terrific business this summer in the end. However, wtf was Kane-Vincent-Young doing in League 2 based on what we have seen....seriously ?! He will have quadrupled his value already.

If Kane has a relative in League 2 that plays LB then let's go get him....what an investment !

I'd love us to go ask Arsenal for Balogun (google his record) on loan. AMN worked out well. Even if only 4th choice he'd be a lovely drop of icing on the cake!

I don't think this bloke is good enough to get us out of this division, even as back up. With Keane
back & Sears not far away its better to send out on loan

Lets loan them to Bolton. They need some players and it will probably help us out in the long run

There are very good players in all leagues. Just because a player has landed in a higher league, doesn't make him or her brilliant. Roberts has ability just not sure he is using it the right way! We will be flattering ourselves if we don't strengthen now, and not a good idea..!

Needs to drop down a league not really sure what his role is a winger a striker always seems a bit half hearted to me reminds me a bit like Ellis Harrison to me that free scoring striker we sold to Portsmouth remember him currently on the bench yes he did score against a mainly second string Birmingham side.
