Blues and Sunderland Linked With Aberdeen Forward Wright
Friday, 23rd Aug 2019 23:37

Town and Sunderland have been linked with a move for Aberdeen forward Scott Wright.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Blues and Black Cats are both eyeing the 22-year-old with the Dons said to value the Scotland U21 international, who is contracted until 2021, at £500,000.

It’s claimed the Blues made a move for Wright, who can play down the middle, out wide or as a number 10, last season and have now renewed their interest while the Wearsiders are also keen.

Wright came through the youth system at his hometown club before breaking into the first team in 2014. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Dundee.

Having added Will Keane to the squad earlier in the week, it would be a surprise if Town were to move for another frontman, certainly one who would cost a fee.

However, speaking this morning, manager Paul Lambert didn’t entirely rule out making a further addition before the transfer window closes on September 2nd.

“If people come up and I think it’s going to benefit the team and the club, then we’ll look at it,” he said. “We’ve still got another few days to go.”

I have heard good things about this lad.
Would surprise me and would expect it to be a loan maybe until January.

Don't see this one coming off, not for that fee anyway.

Be interested to know what attendance figures we have budgeted for ...if approx 15k average we have already exceeded that by @13k ...at £25 a ticket we have made £325,000 extra already ....almost as good as paid for by the extra support .....what evans doesn't seem to realise that its a virtuous circle ....be a great message to be able to oay for someone else based on the tremendous support and commitment the supporters have shown

Cornish blue, if only it were that simple! Agents fees and the small matter of wages?

3 in 30 odd in Scotland? Doesn't convince me a record like that. Only young though so could develop

Not really a goal scorer so looked at whether he gets lots of assists. Answer is no. But must have something to offer or he wouldn't be i the Scotland team. Maybe a target man??

Cornishblu there was a lot of under 19s, youngsters, kids at the ground for both homes games who only pay £7 a ticket. Think you better get your calculator out again

With Sunderland interested there's only one winner much nearer home for him and they would probably offer higher wages.

I would rather we spent the money on a quality centre half i know Nsiala is coming back but i don't think he's the answer.

Would love us to make a offer for Shayne Lavery of Linfield.

Great prospect, will be playing in England either way next season if not this season.

Yeah I worked for Itf c and the average they make a head was £11. That was a few years ago but I doubt it's much more now.

People need to understand. The cost is over the course of a contract.
Any initial fees, wages, bonuses.
Come on Evans, bring someone in, that shows our intent.
4 year contract...we could be premier league by then.
Happy with business so far, but want a big signing still to really show we mean it.

Those not sure on this lad weren't sure on waghorn either. Young and hungry yes please. Would rather that than a journeyman which has been the mainstay of our teams past 7 years

Wright is primarily a skilful winger. Good potential. Aberdeen don't need to sell (no debt) but he has been crowed out by other signings this season, so may fancy a move....especially to a side top of the league!
