Raise Cash for Charity Every Time Norwood Scores
Tuesday, 20th Aug 2019 13:03

A Town fan is raising money for charity this season via The Norwood Challenge in which fans donate cash every time striker James Norwood hits the net.

The 28-year-old summer signing from Tranmere opened his Blues account at Peterborough at the weekend and the total has already reached £357.30 with 40 fans having contributed.

Twitter regular Massive Cobboldian, the man behind the idea, explains how The Norwood Challenge emerged over the summer.

“I decided to raise some money for charity by donating £10 for each goal that James Norwood scores in the 2019/20 season,” he said.

“I put this idea out on Twitter and there was a good amount of interest with people wanting to sign up either with the £10 a goal donations, or for smaller donations per goal.

“Lord Norwood of Hougun Manor himself even retweeted the original tweet adding, ‘Get on board with this, I’ll stick a tenner in per goal as well!’.

“The Lord decided on Cancer Research UK for his chosen charity and thus The Norwood Challenge was born!

“Since the first mentions, people have been donating money even for the four goals James scored in pre-season. ITFC fan Andi, who is battling stage four Kidney Cancer, donated £100 to the cause and donations like this mean so much.

“Having considered the best way to collect donations, with a bit of a poke on Twitter from a fellow ITFC fan, a JustGiving page seemed the best option so feel free to jump on board this fundraising goal machine and raise some good money for Cancer Research UK.”

In addition to the JustGiving page, a website can be found here.
