Lambert Makes 10 Changes as Three Make Debuts at Luton
Tuesday, 13th Aug 2019 19:04

Town boss Paul Lambert has made 10 changes and handed keeper Will Norris and youngsters Bailey Clements and Armando Dobra debuts in this evening's Carabao Cup first round tie at Luton.

Skipper Luke Chambers, who starts at the centre of the defence alongside James Wilson, is the only player kept in the team from Saturday's 1-1 draw with Sunderland. Clements will be at left-back and Josh Emmanuel at right-back.

Emyr Huws makes his first competitive start since December 2018 in central midfield alongside Andre Dozzell.

Dobra will be on the right and Edwards, back after his groin injury, on the left with Alan Judge behind lone striker Jordan Roberts.

Jon Nolan is among the subs following his calf injury, while ex-Hatters loanee Flynn Downes is also on the bench.

Luton, who lost 2-1 at Cardiff on Saturday, include former Blues loan man James Bree from the start, while one-time trialist Marek Stech is a sub.

Luton: Shea, Berry, Lee, Shinnie (c), Cornick, Bolton, Galloway, Brown, LuaLua, Bree, Jones. Subs: Stech, Cranie, McManaman, Jervis, Moncur, Panter, Neufville.

Town: Norris, Emmanuel, Chambers (c), Wilson, Clements, Huws, Dozzell, Dobra, Edwards, Judge, Roberts. Subs: Holy, Skuse, Jackson, Nolan, Rowe, Downes, Kenlock. Referee: Brett Huxtable (Devon).

@bergholtblue - words fail me with your post, a scapegoat you say - HOW MANY MORE MISTAKES DOES HE HAVE TO MAKE, it's not just fans moaning it's FACT the number of mistakes he makes and we concede, probably cost us in double figure points last year, I was at game smack back in front of incident Saturday and people were screaming for him to to just hack in to row z, basic defending has cost us ANOTHER 2 points from a game we played really well in and never looked like conceding.
Also if he retains his place in the coming IT PROBABLY WILL BE HIS FAULT that we concede a goal that we shouldn't
Also if we brought somebody like ndaba and gave him a chance but he kept making basic mistakes how long would he last in team?

10 changes?
This is something I didn't like with MM.
Winning breeds winning.
Forget saving our best for the league.
Just my opinion.
Let's win every game and everything.

This is so embarrassing! Luton Town officially a better team than us! We have no pace in the team, we have seriously under invested and now it's all coming home to roost! Until we buy some quality we'll struggle to compete! It's ok having potential in the form of youngsters, but reality is, they're not good enough yet, if ever. Same issues, same strategy and same poor results!

Stoppit bezzer.
If we played our team we would stuff em.
Tonight is nothing to do with investment.
It's all about saving players.
However, if you have a million or 2 I would like you to invest.

Bezzer, you are judging the situation based on history. Luton are a better team than us now and we've swapped divisions so not embarrassing just reality I'm afraid. Although on paper our lineup tonight has some strong players in it they are coming back from injury and arent match fit plus we have a very weak back four and no goal threat upfront.

@pinstripeblue don't be deluded please! We've lacked investment for years, even pre Evans! We are crying out for some quality and have been since Burley's tenure. We need pace and creativity in the team and have done for 8+ years. We now have a robot for a goal keeper, shocking full backs with no snap or ability to raid forwards, weak centre halves, no width with pace in the midfield, no creative centre mids with the ability to run forwards and centre forwards who are suffering because of this! That is FACT, like it or not. We have crashed to a level where unless we buy quality, we will become stuck for years!

We are talking different things.
I'm saying if we played our team to win tonight we would.
We have that team.
You are talking differently. Looking forward to your millions still.
The squad is the squad. Play it to win, that's what I am saying.
Just play your best team every time.
