Greene King Launch 81 Pilsner for Beattie's as Contract Extended
Thursday, 8th Aug 2019 12:17

Town have announced a new five-year contract with Greene King which will see a specially brewed beer, 81 Pilsner, served in Beattie’s, which is to be formally opened this afternoon.

The contract, an extension of the previous five-year deal agreed in 2014, will see Greene King IPA and East Coast IPA continue to be poured at bars around Portman Road. Carling will now be the lager served around the stadium.

"Greene King, club sponsors from 1995 to 2001, and Carling have played a big role in the refurbishment of Beattie’s, previously Legends.

Family and former team-mates of Blues legend Kevin Beattie, who died last year aged 64, will be at the official opening later today.

Simon Edgar, Greene King’s head of sales for East Anglia, said: “We are thrilled to be renewing our partnership with Ipswich Town, continuing our long-running association with the club, and look forward to supplying our beers around the stadium for the new season.

“Greene King is a huge long-term supporter of sports clubs and associations throughout the UK and we are especially proud to be part of the refurbishment of Beattie’s - a tribute to a true Ipswich legend.”

Rosie Richardson, Town’s director of sales, added: “We have worked with Greene King for numerous years and we are delighted that we have extended the partnership and overall association.

""“Greene King are extremely supportive and we’re excited about launching the new 81 Pilsner which fans will be able to enjoy at Saturday’s game.”

is the glass and the pilsner only available in the bar? Personally I would quite happy to buy the glass (even better if Beattie's name and number were on it too!) and make a donation to his statue

Beatie Pilsner sounds superb - wish it was at every bar though.

As for Carling replacing fosters I give up. Of all the decent lagers we replace a rubbish one with another rubbish one. I bet this was Paul Hursts last thing he approved before he left.
