MacAnthony: Town Owner Evans Called Fry Monday, 5th Aug 2019 23:13
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has revealed Blues owner Marcus Evans spoke with Posh director of football Barry Fry on Sunday.
MacAnthony tweeted that Evans spoke to Fry as he searches for additions to the Town squad, however, he appeared to play down the suggestion that he was showing interest in Peterborough players, believing it was a more general chat, with the pair known to talk.
Town boss Paul Lambert said recently he hoped to make three permanent signings with the Blues having until September 2nd to add to the squad.
I do know Marcus was on phone with Barry yesterday having a chat. And I do know he is looking to sign some players for your manager ðŸ‘ðŸ». https://t.co/uWnZwzSfXU– Darragh MacAnthony (@DMAC102) August 5, 2019
Seems very straight forward to me. Evan's picks BF brains for football knowledge. Don't forget Evan's has none, so needs to talk to someone. BF gets a brown paper bag full of notes for his services.
Dozzels bobblehat this is Evans the guy has been getting advice from Harry Redknapp the past couple of years you know that guy that leaves most of his clubs in the sh!t and debt when he leaves so this is probable.
Derby signing Rooney and their owner in his car talking to press as he was leaving and we can't even afford a pub player and our owner hides away saying nothing to fans or press!
Link above description: "Big Ron Manager is a television documentary series based on Ron Atkinson's efforts as a troubleshooter at the English football club Peterborough United, at the time playing in Football League Two. The series was screened on Sky TV in 2006."
There is a rumour and its only rumour that Town were talking to Leon Clarke who was transfer listed at the end of last season by Sheff United. It was mentioned again this morning on Sheffield radio, work has its advantages, if this is correct it would be just the signing, considering how well he did with Billy Sharp, could be just what Norwood needs?
By the way Evans has been mates with Fry for some time. I wouldn't knock Fry, if you look at Peterboroughs transfer record and the money that they have made then it aint to be sneezed at. Jack Marriott to name but 1
Barry Fry is amusing but when you get a look behind the scenes he didn't look much of a manager, I think he's prob much better suited to being director of football (as he knows how to wheel and deal!) than the actual manager. More clubs seem to going for that model. Norwich seem to have landed on their feet with Webber. Perhaps it's time we look to get somebody in to support the manager in that role. But obviously if the two don't gel then that can cause even more problems. It's good in theory but the manager and director need to be singing off the same hymn sheet because if they aren't and they clash it wouldn't work out well at all with one being cast overboard at the expense of the other. Some managers might not like that sort of oversight. I know at the time when Norwich implemented that model there was plenty of criticism and doubt voiced from their own fans expecting it not to work out nearly so well.
