Sears Signs New Deal
Wednesday, 31st Jul 2019 11:00

Striker Freddie Sears has signed a new Blues deal which will keep him at Portman Road until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further season.

Town took up a one-year option in the 29-year-old’s previous contract in December but now the two parties have agreed a longer-term new deal.

Sears, who is expected to return from his ACL injury in November, joined the Blues from Colchester United for £200,000 in January 2015.

The Hornchurch-born striker or wideman has scored 30 goals in 130 starts and 46 sub appearances for the Blues.

Maybe Evans have learnt a lesson when it comes to players contracts not running out.
Now I just hope that we see a few quality additions to the squad as well.

GOOD WORK FREDDIE

I still think you've got a lot to offer in a Town shirt and were desperately unlucky with that injury at Carrot Road

Look forward to seeing you back in NOV

Norwood and Sears, up top and not on left, is something I would love to see and League 1 defences will hate to see! Great news, get well soon Freddie.

Richly deserved and has done everything he has been asked for the good of the team without quibble. This contract is a good incentive to keep him going until he is pushing for a place in the starting line-up come November. Well done Freddie!

Good news...should be a good player at this level, one of the few positive notes of last season.

For me the only Town player who can truly say he tried his hardest last season. Think League One is the perfect level for him and can't wait to see him back on the pitch.

I assume by this the long term plan is Norwood Jackson Sears as a front three with pace on the sides.

Imagine our striking options being Norwood, Sears, Jackson and a new big physical target man. We'd have everything we need at this level!

The only good thing about his injury is it will be like a new signing when he comes back . Think he will stand out in League 1.

Let's hope he manages to fully recover. Very odd time to agree a new deal when there is no guarantee that he will be able to play again. ACL injuries can't be career ending. Fingers crossed he makes it back as he cannot be faulted for effort.

Good news. Loyal player, and not a tattoo in sight. I assume the physios have monitored his injury and that things are progressing well. A fit FS will be a big asset in League 1.
