Norris Loan Signing Confirmed
Tuesday, 30th Jul 2019 16:05

Town have confirmed the signing of Wolves goalkeeper Will Norris on loan for the season.

Norris was at Portman Road yesterday to undergo a medical and complete the formalities on the deal, however, the move couldn’t be rubber-stamped until Bartosz Bialkowski’s switch to Millwall had been confirmed.

"Ipswich is a massive club and this is a good opportunity for me," he told iFollow Ipswich.

"When my agent told me about the interest it was an easy decision to come here. I don't know any of the lads but this is where I wanted to sign.

"The club has already signed a good goalkeeper in Tomas Holy, but I'm here to battle for the starting spot and I'm looking forward to it. I'm hungry to play games and I'm eager to get going."

Watford-born Norris started his career in non-league with the likes of Northwood, Hatfield and Royston before joining Cambridge United in 2012.

After spells back on loan with Royston, Norris, who is 6ft 3in tall, established himself at Cambridge where he made 93 senior appearances before moving to Wolves in July 2017 for an undisclosed fee.

Since his switch to Molineux Norris, who has two years left on his Wolves deal, has made only one Championship start and one brief Premier League sub appearance on the final day of last season, in addition to six starts in cup competitions.

Welcome big man. Very highly thought of by a lot of Wolves fans. A CB and target man by the of end of the week and I think we're good!

What we want to hear now is that Harry Wright has gone out on a loan to a team playing at a decent level, to gain experience playing the senior game week in and week out, as he is still an important part of our future all being well.

Too lose Bart & Replace him with Norris is good business: checkout Tim Spiers on Twitter: he covers Wolves for their local paper! Rated very highly by the club

Wolves manager was a goalkeeper so if he rates him, he'll do for me

Funnily enough, I almost feel a bit sorry for Holy, but I guess he's big enough to take it! There should be some keen competition between the two.

Bart has been great but i have a feeling we are in a better position GK wise now than last season. Agree that Harry Wright needs a good loan move to get some experience

I defietly feel sorry for Holy, who has done a whole pre season and not looked out of place. Now this new guy comes in who nobody knows and will presumably have the shirt. It's fine if Holy is a nice guy, but what if Norris has a poor start?

Reminds me of when we signed Marshall and then at the last minute we got Sereni, and neither nailed down the position. That didn't end well!
