New Judge Bid Rejected Report
Monday, 22nd Jul 2019 10:35

Town are reported to have rejected a new bid of £450,000 from QPR for midfielder Alan Judge.

According to The Sun on Sunday’s Alan Nixon, the Blues have rebuffed the Championship’s side’s second offer for the Irish international but with the player said to be keen on the move.

QPR, managed by Judge’s former Brentford boss Mark Warburton, are previously understood to have made an offer of £250,000 for the 30-year-old.

Speaking on Friday Town boss Paul Lambert appeared to tacitly confirm the earlier bid but insisted that the Blues wouldn’t allow Judge, who only signed a new two-year contract in April, to depart for a derisory fee.

“There is no way he is going to leave this club for a value that in my opinion is nowhere near his true worth," he said after the friendly victory at Colchester.

“If we let him go to QPR who do we get in? Everybody has a value, absolutely, but there’s got to be a bit of realism.

"The football club got Alan going again and made him play consecutive games. We gave him a great opportunity. He did well for us last season but we did well for him.

"It’s a two-way thing and there’s no chance he is going to just walk out the door.”

Judge is yet to appear for the Blues in a pre-season friendly due to the broken wrist he suffered while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland last month.

Whilst Evans has been scorned for bad decisions etc. He cannot be blamed for gutter press & parasite agents stirring it, if these rumours are correct & judge wants to leave we have 2 weeks to raise the fee significantly & screw that crook Fernandes but beware if we sell that getting the money may prove difficult after QPR got away with no real penalty & X amount years to pay the inept. FA!! Meanwhile let's concentrate on more serious things & whatever your opinions get behind who ever is playing & push for promotion coyb!!

I fail to see the attraction of QPR over Ipswich, despite the league situation. QPR narrowly avoided relegation last season and have now started selling their best players. I'd be surprised if they don't get relegated next season. Meanwhile, Ipswich, especially with Judge, will be a serious contender for promotion. Next season we could be the Championship side and they could be League One. Other factors - we play in a bigger stadium with more fans. We're a bigger club. Judge should at least give us another season, I think he owes us it.

QPR have just accepted a £1.5m big for a player from a West Brom. They should easily be able to fund the move for Judgey once that goes through.

Decent enough player, but I would be too perturbed if he went there wasn't much of an end product to be honest and how many goals did he score or assist? Nevertheless sort of player you want around in the team for the likes of Dozzell and Downes..

Disaster. We must keep Judge.

Glad Lambo isn't daft.

Losing Waghorn got us relegated.

Losing Judge would condemn us to League 1 for years.

QPR are perfectly entitled to enquire/bid for/sign one of our players during the transfer window, just like we have done with countless playters in the past; that's how the system operates. There is nothing wrong with them wanting him or with him wanting to go, it that is the situation ... whihc I assume it is.
As to why he would want to go, well that makes sense too.
He made his name at Brentford under Warburton, who clearly got the best out of him & played him in a formation that sujited him. Why wouldn't he feel comfortable about working under him again? On top of that QPR are playing in a division higher than us next season & he has already shown that he is certainly a Championship level footballer, at least. Again, that's an attractive proposition for him. And then there is the location. I don't know where he is living now, but it's probbaly fair to assuming that he still has a house relatively close to Griffin Park, which is going to be good for a commute to Loftus Road,
As mentioned above, Warburton didn't join QPR until after Judge signed the new 2 year + 1 year option with us, so there would have been little indication to him, at that time, that such an appealing prospect for him would materialise over the summer. To be fair to Judge, I think he would have signed in all good faith, with the intention to doing all he could to get us back into the Championship asap; but circumstances can change quickly and ultimately the sale of Luke Freeman was the last weather front of a perfect storm in this story.
There's bound to be some clause in his contract that will allow him to leave without the requrement of a multi-million pound bid, so I'd assume we are just holding out now for as much as we can get, and judging (!) by Lambert's comments, he is resigned to losing him.

Have to agree with @Cat on this one, not sure what he contributed towards the back end of last season, he missed 1 or 2 sitters at home and basically did very little away from home so might not be such a huge loss but would rather keep him.

This is dragging on too long for my liking, it's never good to sell players late into the window. You need creativity to unlock tight games, there's not that many players we have that can engineer a moment of magic that can make the difference between 3 points instead of 1 or even 1 point instead of 0. Unless we get a really handsome offer then it makes no sense. Also, if we sell Judge we're not likely to get any sort of like for like replacement. Selling would be another step backwards instead of forwards. We've had too many backward steps under Evans and it won't take many more to tip some of the most ardent and loyal fans over the edge.

As for Judge not setting the world alight last season. He was only just starting to get back to form after a long time out. It can take a long while for a player to get back to full form after a serious injury. He looked very good against Denmark and helped them salvage a point. Surely he'd look the part against a lot of the teams we'd be up against in League One some that won't have a single player of international pedigree.

How do we know he wants away, has he asked for a transfer ? He's on contract with us so tough tit.

We cannot let Judge go. How many people renewed their Season Tickets on the basis that he had just signed a two year contract ? If the Club allow this to happen they will not be forgiven by some. If it does, however, it will be the best example I can recall of contracts not meaning anything. It does concern me that Judge is reported to be keen on the deal.

We need to keep hold of Alan Judge because, whatever fee is accepted, it won't be "this year's money" as per Paul Lambert's presser of a few weeks ago. So if he goes, he won't be replaced, except perhaps with some injury prone loanee or free transfer who hasn't done a proper pre-season. Need him fit for league games as, although we have plenty of midfielders, some of them are injured, and many of them are young and easily get yellow carded, like Flynn Downes.

Isn't the fact that he's the only player (aside from Bart) that any of the Championship teams have shown any interest in (at least as far as I'm aware), an indication that he's worth hanging on to? If others are prepared to risk their limited funds on him to play at a higher level you'd like to think that's a very good indication that he could do a cracking job in League One. My only worry with Judge is he might get injured again. In fact he's injured as things stand but fortunately nothing too serious this time around. But with no crystal ball it's impossible to tell and hindsight is a wonderful thing. If a player gets a serious injury the automatic reaction will be we should of sold him while we had a chance. There's been a few like that. DmG to Leicester. Bart to Palace. But the sums we are talking here are a lot less and I'd be inclined to take the gamble as it's a gamble with a considerable amount of upside should he stay fit and start to gel with the likes of Norwood.

And would be a slap in the face to the Brentford fans who adored Judge if he went and jumped ship to their arch rivals QPR. If he's the sort of player that's prepared to do that just for a few more quid in probably and already well stacked bank account, then maybe he's not worth as much to us as I think he is.

Who has said Judge wants to go ? The Sun! This is one that Evans has to get right. There is only one answer and that is a firm no whatever money is offered. Our circumstances dictate that we must hold onto players like Judge. I'm afraid there are times when what we want and need trump a player's possible wishes.

I am surprised no one has said that the reason why Judge wants go is he was told by MM that if he wants to get more caps he should be playing in the championship.

He is an important piece of the jigsaw of us trying to gain promotion. We need to get this sorted out either way asap. If he is staying, thats great, and we start planning with him in mind. If he is going, or wants to go, then fine, that's where we stand. But if he does leave, do it now, so we can find someone to replace hiim. Don't leave it to the last minute like we usually do, and don't palm us off with some old c££p about having a enough players already. We need ambition at the club, or seriously, what is the point.

Simples- 2 years = 2 seasons. Unless we get a good return to buy someone else then no going anywhere. Does Judge really want away? Greater opportunity to shine, grab kudos at ITFC
