Town Among Clubs Linked With Dundalk Defender
Monday, 8th Jul 2019 11:55

Town are among a number of clubs said to be eyeing Dundalk defender Cameron Dummigan.

According to Teamtalk, Grimsby have had a bid for the 23-year-old rebuffed by the League of Ireland champions, while the Blues, Luton, Millwall, Lincoln and Forest Green are also keen.

Former Northern Ireland U21 skipper Dummigan is primarily a right-back but also operates at right midfield and as a left-back.

The Lurgan-born defender began his career with Cliftonville before moving to join Burnley’s youth set-up.

In 2015 he joined Oldham on loan, then signed for the Latics on a permanent basis in the summer of 2016. He left Boundary Park in January to move to Dundalk.

Town currently have Josh Emmanuel and Janoi Donacien as their right-back options but with neither yet established in Paul Lambert’s side the Blues could still be looking to add someone to play in that role.

However, Lambert made it clear following Saturday’s game at Paderborn that there is no money to spend on fees, which seems likely to rule out Dummigan even if there is something to the reported interest.

Lambert: Without Money It's a Different Project 8th Jul 2019 06:00
Boss Paul Lambert knows that expectations will be high going into Town’s first third tier season for 62 years but warns that it’s not a given that his young, frugally-assembled squad will be in the top six, even if he believes they’re "a really good side”. 147

Do we not have Crowe and Cotter still as right backs? Do they not have something to offer?

Would rather sign Alan Hutton on a free , bit of grit and experience sadly lacking from our team last year

On paper we should have a good enough squad to achieve promotion next season although it will certainly not be easy and our players will need to be up for it. However I do feel we need a few additions to the squad so come on ME - lets have some money [ not asking for the earth - just a couple of million ]

Why has the Fortuna game on the 14th been cancelled?

Julesblueblood, totally agree and I would equally add Sears to come in once fit to your positive list.

Why don't we have any money. Ridiculous need to sort it out town a pathetic excuse.
Seems like our rich owner is sitting on his wallet again.

Evans wants to sell the club so he won't be putting money in he'll be taking it out sorry just stating the bleeding obvious although some people on here can't see it.

Linkboy13 again absolutely spot on. He has wanted to sell it now for a couple of years, but the reality is no one can afford or want it 😕

@Julesblueblood - well agree with your post if a few of our younger players that we're pinning our hopes to start performing in league 1...a big season for a number of our younger players though. Saying that there are a number there and if fit should be major players at that level i.e. Bart, Huws, Bishop.

At right-back we have Emmanuel, Donacien, Cotter and Crowe. What does this chap bring to the party?

Someone suggested Alan Hutton. I could see the logic in that; a really experienced full-back on a “free”.

Better would be a good quality centre-back.

Hi Ipswich business Crowe doesn't want to play for the club he's been linked to a number of big clubs and won't risk getting injured i watched a lot of under 23s and youth games last season didn't see him turn out at all i think the other three are very much of a muchness although Donacien was outstanding when on loan at Acrington i would slightly favour him.

Too many right backs already. May not have been adequate but sure Donacien, Crowe, Cotter and Emmanuel will be good enough in league 1.

So, we cannot offer a fee but Grimsby have had a bid turned down? So we now have less money to spend than the likes of Grimsby Town. What a pathetic state of affairs, the club is a complete joke!

Not only that point Skip, but with Fleetwood and Lincoln involved as well....what chance do we have.

Hi Linkboy13; I confess that I haven't seen Crowe play, so you have the advantage there. What you are saying about his attitude is worrying. Nonetheless, we still have three others who can play right-back, but only two experienced centre-backs. Are we going to play youngsters? I still think that we need one more experienced centre-back.
