Youngster Brown Signs First Pro Deal
Monday, 1st Jul 2019 16:31

Academy striker Zak Brown has signed his first professional deal with the Blues.

The 17-year-old Felixstowe-born frontman has penned a two-year contract with the club having an option for a further season.

Brown, the younger brother of former Blues academy striker Charlie, who moved to Chelsea in 2016, joined Town as an U13 and featured regularly for the U18s last season while also breaking into the U23s.

A second-year scholar in the season ahead, Brown has been capped by England at U15 and U16 levels.

There's obviously quite a supply of talent being recruited and nurtured ; it'd be good to see some deserved changes to the current system in which Clubs at the lower levels appear to suffer disproportionately when Premiership entities ‘ pinch ‘ budding talent !

The Premiership clubs wrote the rules, and threatened the Football League with withdrawing funding if they didn't accept it.

The rules aren't going to change in anyone else's favour.

Let's hope that he remembers that this is where the hard work stops not ends.

I bet that he has more chance of playing for our first team than Charlie has playing for Chelsea.

Well, a bit of good news anyway, after the somewhat negative news about Mayor. Good luck, Zak.

HolyGoalie- what are you talking about? Evans for all his faults has not lined his pockets by getting involved with the club. He sets fire to about £7m of his money every year and is about £100m down at this point. Criticise him for not breaking the FFP rules if you want? But he's not making money out of the club you moron

Good luck Zak. Good player and been a stand out with the u18's last season. The only slight concern is the lads attitude if he keep that under control he has a future. Good luck lad.

Agree upthetown1970 Zak was a stand out last season in the u18's along side Gibbs. These two definitely have a future in the game. I'm sure Lambert will get Zak's temperament under control.

Good luck zak your joining the Town when evolution has taken us back to our roots when good quality youth gave us the foundation for the club we once were and are going to return to.

Seen this boy many times for youth team quick runs at defences with good control and a good finisher it's all about nature and how he develops physically as with a lot of towns young players they are quite small eg Andre Dozzell who this season must start showing his great talent we know he has.

Seen the amounts being tendered for the services of players in the latest transfer windows (example being Harry Mcguire for 70 million) and the most ludicrous prices are normally reserved for strikers. Yet, I struggle to think of more than a few European strikers that make a consistent impact. It leaves the door wide open for an attacking talent to shine......and who knows Zak......at 17 years old.....it could just be you. The very best of luck!

Good luck Zak.
Unfortunately Charlie, A's has been said earlier, will never get into Chelsea first team.
Stick with Town Zak and play your prem football with us in 2021-22....

Nice to see a good young local talent signing for their home club. Shame the older brother got lured by the big signing on fees at Chelsea - I guess you cant blame him though as thats teh way the games gone unfortunately.

Years ago Sir Bobby managed to get Beattie from under Liverpools nose - these days we woldnt be able to hold onto ALL of our best youngsters. Ben Knight to Man City another prime example.
