Blues Among Clubs Claimed to Be Eyeing Australian
Wednesday, 19th Jun 2019 18:58

Town are claimed to be among a number of clubs showing interest in Sydney FC’s Australian international midfielder Brandon O’Neill.

According to the Daily Mail, Blackburn, Bristol City, Portsmouth and the Blues have made enquiries regarding the 25-year-old, who has a UK passport and therefore would have no work permit issues.

It’s claimed O’Neill, who plays as a holding midfielder, would cost £350,000.

Although manager Paul Lambert has said he lacks out-and-out cover for Cole Skuse in his squad, Town are almost certainly ruled out of the running for O’Neill by a fee having to be paid.

Town’s incoming signings this summer are all expected to be Bosman free transfers.

O’Neill, who won his first full cap earlier this month having played for Australia’s U23s, began his career with hometown club Perth Glory before moving to Sydney in 2015.

How about Tommy Oar. I seem to recall he looked ok against Man Utd never to be seen again thereafter!

Its crazy not to have competition for Skuse who have underperformed a long time now. Every player needs competition.

I expected him to leave, but Ipswich?!

Please expand on the ‘only Bosman ‘ comments : for if we get funds in from our own sakes ,and maybe from the bonus profits of ‘ onward sales ‘ of previous personnel ,then why will ME have nought to spend ?
This already appears like a heavy cloud overhead !!

£350,000 fee was when I stopped reading!

Evans isn't going to pay that.

Belts are tightened up by most clubs who drop down a league.
If we sell players and have mill in the pot Evans may alow us 2mill, the rest will go on our other expenses.
Shame as he is a good player.

Only freebies and loans. Just a joke club now. A generation in league 1-2 awaits and you'll still not blame Evans

Irrespective of his princely £350k price tag, if Brizzle and Blackburn are after him he won't fancy swapping A-League soccer for English tier 3. Why is it though that whatever league we are in and however much cash we bring in from sales and sell-on clauses, we still aren't ever in a position to offer a fee?! Has Uncle Marcus been at the biscuit tin again?!

It's remarkable that we won't be looking to spend a very modest fee if the chance arose to sign a player PL wanted. We are due to receive at least one windfall which won't have been included in the original budget. Not saying this guy is worth spending on, but seriously. Marcus got lucky with the number of season ticket renewals. Time to repay the faith and learn from previous failings.

I have to state I am far from an ME fan and would love us to invest. I also fear what the future holds. I do however run my own business and invest in local sports clubs all to a much lesser economy to scale than ME and his group of companies and also league one level. Those expecting fees to be spent when we were losing £6million plus a season in the championship and this will see a further £9mill in lost revenue are quite frankly clueless.
No owner will put that extra money in look at Sunderland and more recently Portsmouth/Charlton etc. The single difference for us is our youngsters. Let's rejoice in Norwood and Judge - relish our youth & pray the new keeper is good. I said before and ask again who really would risk their own cash above £15mill a season??? If many of us would let's do a Pompey or AFC Wimbledon and buy the clubs as a fans trust. However knowing the Wimbledon journey - trust me it's not easy.

Bit of a non-story, this. Towen linked to a player that requires a fee...that the club won't pay...so we won't buy him.

Bluearmy 1981 - give it a bloody rest . Every single post you whinge about Evans . This is only a newspaper article allegedly linking us with a player , yet still you turn it into an anti Evans fest . Bore off

Anyone else think we should've gone in for Josh Morris?

Bluearmy_81 added 22:08 - Jun 19
Dozzy, thanks for the advice but I won't, I couldn't care less what you think. There is no where near enough anti Evans noise considering the calamity he has overseen so I'm making up for it.

Agree Bluearmy81. A total sham of a club these days.
Embarrassing what we have become.
Unfortunately we are a club where the ‘happy clappers” will keep on clapping, regardless of how far we fall.
And worryingly I don't think we've fallen as far as we will end up.
No money to invest in a poor squad and the team being led by Chambers....equals further decline to come.
