Dunn Deal Second Signing in Two Days for ITFC Women
Tuesday, 11th Jun 2019 15:57

Ipswich Town FC Women have re-signed right-back Chloe Dunn from Limestone College in South Carolina, their second addition in two days following yesterday’s recruitment of Blue Wilson from Manchester City.

Dunn rejoins the Blues a year into a four-year scholarship in America.

The 19-year-old previously spent four months with the U21 set-up during the 2017/18 season prior to moving out to the States, where she was named Freshman of The Year and was included in the NCAA Second Team All-Conference side.

A product of the Essex Centre of Excellence where she was coached by current Town boss Joe Sheehan, she joined Watford at the age of 16 and captained their development side before moving to Ipswich for her previous spell in 2017.

Phil, do you have any insight into Itfc's strategy towards the women's team? Is there going to be a push to get the team up the pyramid to a level more aligned with the men's team and on a par with some of the more progressive clubs in terms of the women's game.

Blueandcrazy, I think we are in the third tier with both sides!

@Fat_Boy_Tim, the women's team are in the fourth tier, and its regionalised at that level so split into 4/5 regions. Getting into the third tier which is nationwide would be a good step, but we'd need to finish top of our division for that - would be a good start.

I think it's excellent that the women's team is featured on TWTD. Hopefully the team will do well next season. Good luck girls!!

It'd be great to see the women's team play at Portman Rd. Might not work every weekend, but a "double-header" of the Women's Team at 12:30pm followed by the Men's at 3pm might be an interesting experiment and would add value if Town offered it.
