Town Among Clubs Linked With Bolton Defender
Sunday, 9th Jun 2019 10:35

Town are reported to be among a number of clubs eyeing Bolton Wanderers defender Harry Brockbank.

According to The Sun, Sunderland are keen on the 20-year-old, who can play at right-back, central defender or in central midfield, but Championship Brentford, who have previously been linked, and Town are said to head the chase.

Bolton-born Brockbank came through the youth system at his hometown club before spending time on loan with Salford City earlier this year during which time he made one Vanarama National League appearance as a sub.

Following his return to Wanderers he was given three starts in the final weeks of the season as Bolton dropped into League One along with the Blues.

Brockbank is available on a free transfer due to in-administration Bolton’s ongoing financial problems.

His three first-team games are understood to have triggered an extension to his previous contract but Wanderers were unable to offer new terms before a set deadline, meaning he can now move on for free.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Aaron Drinan, who is currently on loan back with his old club Waterford, could win his fourth Irish U21s cap this afternoon when his side face Bahrain in their final group game aiming for a place in the semi-finals at the Maurice Revello Toulon Tournament.

Drinan, 20, has come on as a late sub in both the 4-1 victory over China and the 0-0 draw with Mexico.

Next stop is ..... we haven't thought that far ahead followed by its final destination of I like to scream and shout but am a bit too dim to think methodically of alternative solutions.

If we can bring in quality players, who will improve the squad and give us some much needed depth, on free transfers, then seems to me to be good business. This one's a tad unusual, in that the potential opportunity has arisen due to Bolton's precarious financial situation. I'm no standard bearer for ME, but we perhaps should be thankful it's them not us having to off-load individuals as a cost saving measure.

Paper talk, no fee mentioned (because Bolton are in meltdown), mid-way through June and we are doomed according to some.

We could be Bolton but for Evans, we don't have money to spend on big sexy transfers and most realise that. Clearly some on here never will but to despair at this time of the year is beyond ridiculous.

How come over the last 10 years we are always told any team relegated we cannot compete with due to their higher league squad and spending money, but when we get relegated we are still only signing freebies and selling more than we spend ?
If Evans doesn't change his thinking we will be in this league or worse for years , you cannot keep weakening your squad year by year and expect to do well

I'm sad to inform you that Bluearmy 81 is right. ME is turning away potential investors the entire time because he has run this club into such a severe state of debt nobody is approaching what he would sell it for. So, reduce the losses over a period of time and get on with making money with the other subsidiaries whose profits totally dwarf those of that annoying ITFC subsidiary that He bought out of vanity and now wishes he hadn't. It's not a problem though, we'll reduce the losses each summer by flogging the assets and then three times a season i'll Pacify these gullible fans by making a pithy statement but I certainly won't attend games or care about the results. Saxon Blue, £45m might be a lot of money to me and you but isn't to ME or the ME Group.

Be thankful!? For what, ruining an important part of my life and deceiving the likes of Sheepshanks that he cares. Will you be as thankful in League 2?
Thankful - I can't believe how much everybody supports this man.
Are Newcastle thankful to Ashley?
ME is ruining us and like Newcastle, there are offers to buy ITFC.

Gullible isn't the word TNT. Town fans take 'gullible' to a whole new level.

bluearmy by your own admission you didn't read it. your argument and point ended right there. If you had read it then you would know this is a player available for free purely because his club is screwed and in admin. Are you suggesting we don't look into a potential bargain purely because you want to see us splash the cash. Or worse should we give them a million anyway because it will make you feel better. Your opinion, you are entitled to, but it is based on nothing and is completely stupid.

It's embarrassing to be associated with such docile supporters, gutless and pitiful to say the least!

Bluearmy_81 added 20:12 - Jun 9
Ps I doubt its anywhere near 45m with the asset stripping and tax offsetting he does, probably why he's in no desperate hurry to sell.

Terry nutjob, no I didn't read it and I didn't need to, I was right. Freebies only for ITFC now. Keep backing the man killing our beloved club. Maybe in a few years you'll look back and realise how niave and stupid your stance was but probably not, someone (anyone) else will be to blame!! 😂

Jesus. Look how many morons have downmarked Bluearmy1981 for doing nothing other than stating the real issue with this club. No wonder we are where we are. Will they still be bending over for Marcus Evans when we are playing Felixstowe on a Saturday?

Chalky.
Nobody from Ipswich goes on vacation - they go on holiday. This ain't Florida.

Gcon, I don't even care about downmarks, I don't even look mate. If I can get some sense into just one or two it would be worth it. Join 'Evans out of ITFC' on facebook

Gcon, spot on in all respects and very funny.
The Marcus Evans downgrade continues - sell a World Cup squad player and replace him with a league 2 goalkeeper, don't worry the Town fans will accept this, they did last summer.
I will follow my team down to wherever Marcus is taking us, yes, even to Felixstowe but please people don't regard this tyrant as a friend or saviour, he is killing us and yes, there are alternatives, he just won't listen to offers, as is his right.

Here's a question.
We were a couple of hundred short of receiving a further discount as season ticket holders.
Do the 300 corporate season tickets count, after all they are still paying money to ITFC for them?
Marcus, did you make a conscious decision to not count these tickets so you didn't have to come down further?
We'll never get an answer because he doesn't talk directly to the fans so i'll answer it for him.
Yes, he deliberately left these corporate tickets out of the calculation.

bluearmy and warktheline, you are just two of a vocal minority on here that seem far more interested in having pathetic spats with your fellow fans than you do in supporting the club. Do you even know what TWTD stands for?

Gcon added 21:21 - Jun 9
It's not the downmarks I am worried about. It's the extent to which people just don't seem to get it, that is really concerning.

Put a post up on here about Chambers having a cup of tea with his nan and they will find every reason in the world to slag him off. Make a valid point about how Evans is driving this club into the ground and they'll treat you like the devil. Weird times, we're completely doomed if the majority of supporters are so totally ignorant.

just checked on FBook, the Evan's Out page has 90 (ninety) members. Please grow up,;our local Women's Institute has more than that - "put up or shut up" springs to mind. All Russian or Arab billionaires welcome to mark me down.

I've just had a quick look at the Evans out Facebook thing. Forgive me if I'm wrong, because my eyes are genuinely very bad, but dies it say 90 members? If so: 90 members???? If I've misread it and it's 900 then that's still not many os it? 9,000 will probably count as significant
