TWTD understands young former West Brom keeper Adam Przybek is at Town today to undergo a medical and complete a move to the Blues having impressed on trial earlier this year.

Przybek came through the academy ranks at the Hawthorns before being released this summer without having broken into their first-team squad. Last season he made 22 appearances for the Baggies’ U18s without featuring for their U23s.

The 19-year-old spent time on loan with Gloucester City and Rushall Olympic last season prior to a spell on trial with the Blues in February in which he featured in the 4-3 U23s defeat at Crystal Palace and evidently caught the eye of manager Paul Lambert and goalkeeper-coach Jimmy Walker.

English-born Przybek has won U16s caps with England and has played at U17 and U19 levels with Wales. He also qualifies to play international football for Poland.

Przybek, who was on loan at Worcester City in 2017/18, is likely to be viewed as an U23s keeper next season and his addition may allow the Blues to send Harry Wright, 20, out on loan to gain first-team experience elsewhere during 2019/20.

Town have already signed Tomas Holy to replace the released Dean Gerken this summer, while it appears certain another senior keeper would be targeted if Bartosz Bialkowski, who is interesting Birmingham City and other Championship clubs, were to move on.

According to a report in the Midlands this morning, Town and Championship sides Charlton and Hull City are all understood to be eyeing Bolton Wanderers keeper Remi Matthews.

Matthews, 25, is from Gorleston and started his career at Norwich City - where he will have been coached by Town first-team coach Matt Gill - during which time he spent spells on loan at Burton Albion, Doncaster Rovers, Hamilton Academical, Plymouth Argyle and Bolton.

The 6ft ½in tall keeper made his switch to the Trotters permanent in January, signing a contract which runs to next summer. However, with Bolton in administration, Matthews could well be allowed to move on for free during the close season.

Given his circumstances, it would be a surprise if Town haven’t explored the possibility of Matthews being a target if Bialkowski were to move on having spoken to a number of keepers including Christy Pym, who recently joined Peterborough from Exeter, and QPR's Matt Ingram since the end of the season as well as former Gillingham man Holy, whose signing was confirmed last month.

Przybek will become Town’s second new recruit of the summer with striker James Norwood’s long all-but-done free move from Tranmere expected to be confirmed next week.

The 28-year-old, who is currently away on a family holiday, is set to sign a three-year deal with an option for a further season.

Some players leave for money, some for playing time, some for trophies, some simply for a change and some because they are let go. Regardless of the deal with this 3rd choice so our youngster can go out on loan signing you cant say you are a realist and make that staement at the same time. To do so takes away credibility from any subsequent statement you make regardless of any merit it may have and makes you impossible to take seriously. As an omnipresent being I deal in people, their make-up, their v DNA if you will so I do know what I'm talking about

If we don't go up next season it will be harder the season after. And repeat. Reality may be a hard pill for you to swallow but keeping your heads in the sand and being blindly optimistic in the face of mountains of contrary evidence will not end well. Will be as happy as any of you to be wrong in a year's time, and equally I won't say "I told you so" if we don't go up as I will be gutted as any of you and would get no satisfaction from doing so. I do not and will not mystifyingly ignore the cause though.

Totally beggars believe that they continue to ‘happy clap' anything and everything connected to the club! I'm currently on holiday in Menorca and have spoken to plenty of supporters from different clubs and all of them have stated how appalling the demise of our club is! Some have also remarked that another relegation wouldn't at all surprise them! Anyhow after letting some read posted views on forum, they were shocked by the lack of ‘anger' towards the continued slide into oblivion of Ipswich Town FC! Muppets 😂

Hopefully he sees this as a positive career move, whilst PL clearly believes he's good enough to be here, and can improve/progress. Following relegation, all decisions and commitment of significantly reduced income become even more critical - in terms of getting them right. Failure to do so has got us where we now are; but keep looking back and playing the blame game changes nothing. But learning, and applying, the lessons learned as a basis for drawing a line in the sand, and then hopefully taking us forward, is what now matters. This type of signing fits the brave new world in which we now live.

They struggle to see people who sit back and accept while Town burns as proper fans. Compare Blackpool fans to Town fans for example, no comparison. So disappointed in Town fans to be honest, really disheartening. The aforementioned fans would be causing uproar at such a demise, not just bending over and taking it. Personally I think fans up here are less likely to just take a scripted interview and other such PR on face value, they are more cynical, less likely to blindly trust those in power, critical, (critical thinking) some might say less gullible if you will.

Not a debate that needs to be started again 😴. However, should you be able to see beyond that, he makes very good points. I was bemused by the bookmakers making us favourites to go down last year. After all, we only had to be better than three other teams! Are they still making us favourites for promotion next season? If so, I really do think they have it wrong. Having said that they rarely do. Towards the end of last season when relegation become a certainly ( the Bristol City game in November for me ) there were posts on here saying what a marvellous time Sunderland fans were having, getting to watch their team winning all the time. Will they be this season following their play off defeat and another season in league one while their nearest rivals are in the premier league? Sound familiar? I dislike the term happy clappy but Ipswich fans have always been happy to accept what is produced on the pitch. Be it because of our history of punching way above our weight or the fact that we have always been a really nice club, set of fans etc. This relegation has been a long time coming but expected in my view. This is not just Evans fault. It is a series of bad decisions and mistakes over a 20 year period by many individuals. I am struggling to understand the excitement for the upcoming season. Any of my fellow town fans that I talk to really aren't. Yes, there will be many different grounds to visit next season. It may even be like the good old days, visiting run down grounds, getting to stand but how long will it take for the novelty to wear off? Am I being negative or just realistic? No I won't be buying a season ticket next season before I get slated. I will pick and choose and take my chance on getting a ticket on the day from the 20,000 available seats. I do hope that I am wrong because we could indeed be in this division for more than one season. On a lighter note, How many psychologists does it take to change a lightbulb? One. But the lightbulb has to want to change.
