Physio Byard Honoured
Monday, 20th May 2019 16:54

Town physio Matt Byard’s 21 years’ service with the Blues has been marked by the Football Medical and Performance Association.

The FMPA, the representative body for medicine and performance practitioners working within professional football, handed Byard membership of their 21 Club at their 2019 Conference and Awards at the end of last week.

“I’m obviously delighted to have received the award from my peers,” Byard told the club site.

""“I’m especially pleased that all my 21 years have been at this football club and I consider myself to be very fortunate and privileged to guide medical and physiotherapy services to Ipswich Town players.”

Many congratulations on this thoroughly deserved award. 21 years! What price loyalty in today's football bubble? Simples - it's priceless!

As fans, we have no way of assessing if he has been doing a good, indifferent or poor job. Some of our long term injuries e.g. the spate of ACL injuries are pure bad luck, but our record of bringing back injured players has seemed poor in recent years.

The physio does his job to get players fit the problem with a lot of players is they are too comfortable on very good money and can't be bothered if they play or not(this is not a slight on any players with depression issues etc.)
