Clubs Showing Early Interest in Bialkowski
Wednesday, 15th May 2019 15:48

The Blues have already received interest in keeper Bartosz Bialkowski from a number of Championship clubs but none have yet made an offer for the Polish international.

According to the EADT three clubs have made contact regarding the 31-year-old, who signed a contract which runs to the summer of 2021 last summer with Town having an option for a further season.

We understand that it is the case that clubs have been in touch with the Blues regarding Bialkowski since the end of the season, but with none yet having taken their interest any further than that.

Bialkowski has said on a number of occasions that he is happy at Town and plans to live in Suffolk when he hangs up his gloves, however, it is understood that a move back to the Championship is something the former Southampton man would certainly consider having spent several seasons in League One with Notts County prior to his move to the Blues on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.

The once-capped three-times Town Player of the Year is keen to get himself back in the Poland frame having been their third choice at last summer’s World Cup and playing in League One would give him little hope of a return to international football.

With relegation to League One having cut revenue by £9 million, Town are in a position where they will have to look at any serious offer this summer, however, manager Paul Lambert recently insisted that no one would “go out of here on the cheap, no chance, no chance”.

Last summer Birmingham City made a £3 million offer for Bialkowski, which the Blues rebuffed. However, after the keeper’s disappointing 2018/19, Town would almost certainly have to accept a very much smaller sum if a club formalises their interest before the September 2nd transfer deadline.

Like the rest of his team-mates Bialkowski, who is believed to have become Town’s highest-paid player when he signed his new deal last July, is set to take a significant pay cut due to relegation, with some members of the squad facing reductions of 50-60 per cent, according to former manager Mick McCarthy.

On this seasons evidence he is nowhere good enough for the premier. A shadow of what he once was and prone now to horrendous errors. I'm happy enough with Gerks, still a very good shot stopper, and though not great under the high ball nor was Bart. Overall tho he has been excellent for us and the ideal outcome would be his move to a higher level and a decent fee accrued by us.

Whoever plays in goal next year will need to be decent with crosses and Bart is a better shot stopper than at dominating the box
Perhaps best not to judge him on last year after his world cup season but he may need a new challenge and we need the cash.
Sell !

how quickly things change in football, we were all [well nearly all] wanting him to stay and saying the the price tag at the time was too low, then came the dip in form price will drop significantly now relegated ,and people are indifferent as to him moving on .......nothing is forever,

Between Bart over two or three season, Lawrence and Fraser they kept us in the championship longer than we probably deserved he's had one not great season by his standards and unless it's at least between 2-3 million I'd say no he could be the difference between promotion and mediocrity especially with our defence.

Had a poor season, not as good as people think, be pleased to see him go personally

This is rubbish. We have him on a long contract, his wages are being quoted as falling along with the other player who underperformed this season and so become less of an issue. If he likes the area and likes playing at Town then there is no reason for Town to let him go other than for a premium that can't be turned down. If they want him bad enough and he wants to move because of potential of moving up a place or 2 in the Poland team in a 'higher placed' league team then let whichever clubs pay what Town / PL want for him otherwise tell them where to go or let them have Gerkin.

Where have we gone wrong guys?

I would have lost form being a keeper in front of the dross Bart has had to put up with. Ok, he has lost form and confidence but this is mainly due to the worst defence in the league bar Bolton and with Captain Calamity at the helm. Give the captaincy to another older team member, push Chambers onto the bench and see Bart regain his form if the defence perform well. Remember the last game of the season where we performed better once Chambers the clown got sent off.
Bart has faced too many shots point blank courtesy of our inept defenders.
I rest my case!

Saved Chambos ass on how many occasions in the last 4 years.
We would have been relegated long before now if not for Bart.
And strange people like Londontractor57, still think it was down to MM.....LOL.

The goalkeeper position is the most important of this summer.
If we have 2 more seasons of Chambo leading the back line. We need a top draw keeper to compensate for the continued howlers thrown at him from calamity Chambo.
But we shouldn't get to down beat, he is a right proper good bloke after all said and done.
A great club man, blue runs through his veins blah blah blah.

Yes ArnieM. But not over rated at the time of making one world class save after another.

Agreed, a class keeper let down time and time again by the likes of Chambers and go. I would be the same.
ArnieM I would not mark you down (as you have me) because you have your opinion, all i'm saying is, a keeper is only as good as his defence. This is why he was voted player of the year time and time again for his outstanding saves, however, in the past year, Luke and others have been awful and if you have no confidence in your front four and have to watch them as well as everything...well......you suffer don't you.

Bart was very good I agree but under McCarthy he had nine defensively drilled outfield players in-front of him. Plenty of protection ! He's a wonderful reflex shot stopper. The very best there is. But I'm sure you would agree there's so much more to goal keeping than just that?! I really don't get this hero worship tbh . Yes he's been good , but POTY for three seasons in our squad frankly is no recommendation is it! The third POTY, frankly, should have gone to Waghorn, but such is the
“ halo effect” surrounding Bart he got it again. Sorry I down voted you. But it just seems to be the the thing to do on this forum doesn't !

let him go for the right money. personally i believe he doesn't want to be here and that shows from his performances last season.

The 'passing the buck' blame game can work both ways. I've read that Barts shocking season is the fault of Chambers!! Using that peculiar, almost delinquent logic,we could say that Chambers performances/confidence were affected by having a teflon gloved liability behind the back 4. Lets stop pointing the finger of blame at the same players and exonerating those who we like but cant admit to them ever doing wrong !! We're talking about the here and now, Ive voted for Bart as player of the season for the previous couple of seasons, but he's been very poor, almost embarrassing at times this. We need to cash in now before he deteriorates any further. Great servant but time to go, for everyone's benefit.

Mixed feelings about this. He was superb for 3 years, been woeful for most of last season then at the end looks back to his best.

A keep is such an important position and we need a top class oneif we are to get promoted straight back up, Look at what having a top keeper has done for Liverpool & Man city.

I would like him to stay.

Too good for lge1? Then that's exactly what we need to get out again isn't it??!! Hurst filled our squad with players that are not "too good for lge1", that went well didn't it! I really hope he decides to stay.
