Woolfenden Signs New Deal
Saturday, 16th Feb 2019 14:29

Young Blues defender Luke Woolfenden has signed a new deal with the Blues, extending his terms to 2022 with an option for a further season.

The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan with Swindon, has made one senior start and two sub appearances for the Blues having come through the academy.

Ipswich-born Woolfenden, who plays at centre-half or right-back, previously spent time on loan at Bromley in the Vanarama National League.

Im getting excited at the prospect of all our youngsters signing long term deals. Maybe relegation could be a blessing in disguise and really give our own more first team opportunities

On ITFC main website....Luke signs new deal.
Must admit my heart sunk for a brief second.
Then realised it was the Woolf.
Fantastic to get this done.
Very much the part of our future.

Karlosfandangal. As my above 1st post. A great signature to secure, and the future is looking brighter with every young player continuing to put pen to paper. If your point is regarding our great Chambo, then get a life.

With you ITFCsince73 my heart sank too. I think it's great securing youngsters signatures ready for next season and give them plenty of game time to give them the experience they need to come straight back up next season

Sorry, people are saying their 'heart sank' that Chambers might have signed. We really have some ridiculous supporters. Chambers would be a really important player for us next season in L1 and for the development of players like Wolfenden. You can tell people who have never played the game when they don't understand the importance of someone like Chambers. Superb captain, decent CB. Invaluable experience and leadership.

Well I love to read 2 fans arguing stupidly with each other!!!

On the matter of the post, it is good news but don't forget players clubs get them to sign new deals sometimes to increase their value before selling.................just saying, please don't bite my head off.

PS I really hope he stays, but remember, if relegated, there will be those who want to be elsewhere.

...... why are certain people getting their pants in a twist over Chambers ?- a limited player, yes - a bloody good Club Captain, yes - one for the future, no.
However, every Club has to have someone of his presence in their ranks - for the time being, we have, and need Chambo'.
Obviously, he will spend more time away from the first team scene, as time progresses - Give the guy a bit of credit, some of you.
Not all the best examples in the game are to be set on the pitch - there's more to the game than that.
Take the blickers off, some of you blatantly biased people.
