Town boss Paul Lambert has accepted a misconduct charge relating to his red card at Norwich last week, but has written to the FA outlining the circumstances surrounding his dismissal, which came during a bust-up between the benches just before half-time.

“I am not going to win an appeal so I won’t be going down that route but I have had my say to the FA,” he told the club website.""

“I stand by what I have said. I stand by exactly what went on. I will accept what is coming my way - whatever that is - but there was a lot of stuff that was going on underhand that was wrong and that’s what I have explained to the FA.”

""In their official response to the charge, Town have also questioned the role of the stewards during the flashpoint. Lambert has previously said he was unhappy with the manner in which he was manhandled by a steward.

""The club have also pointed out to the FA that the coach taking the squad to Carrow Road from their hotel took 28 minutes to do a 10-minute journey with a police escort.

Speaking on Tuesday, Lambert revealed that Norwich’s goalkeeping-coach Ed Wooten challenged him to a fight after encroaching into the Town technical area during the melee, which followed a Jon Nolan foul on Max Aarons.

Also red-carded during the incident, although erroneously, was Canaries’ head of performance Chris Domogalla.

In addition to Lambert's charge, the two clubs were charged with failing "to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during both the 45th and 90th minutes, as well as their officials in the 45th minute".

Suffolkboy added 17:49 - Feb 15 The old ‘farts ‘ at the headquarters of the FA need desperately to get in touch with the real world: AND instead of generally and automatically assuming they stand on the right side of the rules and the law, readily and consistently ,and very publicly , open up the scenario to rigid examination and consistency of interpretation , In this case someone amongst the professional bodies in charge at pitch level quite obviously made more than just one mistake, and consequently the interpretation of events and consequential judgements are open to misinterpretation and wrongful punishment . When they get it so wrong the FA need to eat a bit of humble pie ,and publicly admit they could and should do much better ! In a court of law any hint of error or wrongful presentation of the facts would very likely lead to a case being dismissed .Long past time for the FA to get in touch with reality ,AND stop hiding behind a Rule Book . At some stage it would be a great idea for Clubs and Managers to take the task of exposing the FA to publis criticism/ judgement ,and that might just do a lot of good . Poor behaviour is one thing , but to sit in silent judgement and resist examination compounds the situation . COYB COYB

Used to be a big deal as a kid to sit outside our house on derby day (on the A140) to see the town team bus pass by!

Essexnblue added 21:49 - Feb 15 The fact that the ref got the identity of the NCFC coach wrong will tell you that the referees report must be flawed, so I guess that the whole report is full of rubbish hence the PL letter. Surprised that Chambo wasn't included in the charges as he went after the GK Coach who is still running round the Norwich ring road now!
