Chambers and Knudsen Start as Town Make Five Changes at Norwich
Sunday, 10th Feb 2019 11:24

Skipper Luke Chambers, outcast left-back Jonas Knudsen, Trevoh Chalobah, Jon Nolan and Will Keane all return to the Blues side facing Norwich City at Carrow Road this afternoon but James Collins remains unavailable due to his hamstring injury (KO midday).

Chambers, who missed the Sheffield Wednesday match due to a foot problem, partners Matthew Pennington at the heart of the defence with James Bree at right-back and back-in-the-fold Knudsen, who last played at QPR on Boxing Day having indicated he'd like to move on in January and who netted home and away in East Anglian derbies in 2016/17, on the left. Toto Nsiala drops to the bench, while Myles Kenlock is missing from the 18.

In midfield, Cole Skuse is joined by Chalobah and Nolan with Teddy Bishop and Flynn Downes on the bench.

Up front, Keane starts in the centre with Freddie Sears on the right and Alan Judge on the left with Collin Quaner not among the subs.

Norwich, second in the Championship following yesterday's games, are unchanged from the team which beat new leaders Leeds United 3-1 last week with ex-Blues striker Jordan Rhodes on the bench.

Bottom-of-the-league Town are looking for their first derby win in nearly 10 years and their first victory art Carrow Road since 2006.

Norwich: Krul, Aarons, Zimmermann (c), Godfrey, Lewis, Vrancic, Trybull, Buendia, Stiepermann, Hernandez, Pukki. Subs: McGovern, Rhodes, McLean, Tettey, Hanley, Srbeny, Cantwell.

Town: Bialkowski, Bree, Chambers (c), Pennington, Knudsen, Skuse, Chalobah, Nolan, Sears, Judge, Keane. Subs: Gerken, Jackson, Harrison, Bishop, Downes, Nsiala, Elder. Referee: Peter Bankes (Merseyside).

Er ..... Quaner not on the bench and TB rewarded with a new contract and a place on the bench ? Is PL still on the books at Norwich ? The words ‘you don't know what you're doing ‘ spring to mind but I hope I am proved wrong !!

Oh dear! Chambers back in with 'Mad dog' (I suppose he does score against Norwich but that's the only straw I can grasp)...and yes Bishop on the bench is a strange one. Just seems like PL is shuffling the pieces from match to match.

COYB lets try and get something out of this...

dogs of war, would normally hate this approach, but this is a one-off and chambers & knudsen (maybe his farewell game)are worth a punt.
would have gone with downes in midfield, and quaner with keane up front.
text says quaner on the bench, but team says not, which is right?

Manager makes twctical change in midfield and supporter (gandj) doesnt get it shocker.

Maybe Quaner replaced last min as well. We'll see. Obviously an injury or illness. Seriosly pipe down and try supporting your team.

I'm glad to see knudson start. Our best LB by a distance despite some of the nonsense spouted.

Is Lambert becoming 'confused'?.....Has the 'Ipswich curse' now taken hold of Lambert? Half baked ideas !!!!!!

Agree with Knudsen recall. Can't understand how Nolan gets in ahead of Bishop or Downes. Perhaps we will see Bish make an impact from the bench. Hope we're not 2-0 down by then or worse!

Terry .... stick to wildlife programmes... clearly your speciality.
Nolan back in from nowhere ? Knudsen a liability that no one wants even with his long throw !! It's not tactical it smacks of a manager desperate looking for a winning formula and as a lifelong fan I hope he finds it. I have every right to air my concerns...

Knudson doesn't want to be at Ipswich. So why the hell is he playing. Not only sad times. But desperate now as well. The best young fit players we have on the bench. There isn't enough places for Norwich to fit all there's in. Otherwise they would.

I'm confused by all the confusion surrounding the confusing team selection! Before I go to that special place in hell, could we just do them this once🙏

The selection of comments here almost defy belief : this Manager does know exactly what he's doing and probably has a better footballing & tactical brain than most of us !
So, Yes ,it's quite ok to voice opinion ,and be part of the usual football commentary ; BUT it would be a really good idea to actually ending up expressing support for everybody at ITFC ( is PL not trying hard enough already ?) .
We may well lose ,but life is too short .lets accept and enjoy the honest effort of the players and recognise too the merits of those we compete against !
