Emmanuel, Bishop, Dozzell and Dawkins in U23s Facing Millwall
Monday, 28th Jan 2019 11:15

Josh Emmanuel, Teddy Bishop, Andre Dozzell and Simon Dawkins will be in Town’s table-topping U23s side as they take on Millwall at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Right-back Emmanuel, 21, will be playing his first game in a Town shirt since having his loan spell with League One Shrewsbury cut short due to a lack of first-team action.

The side coached by Gerard Nash and Chris Hogg are currently seven points clear at the top of the Professional Development League Two South table having won their last three matches.

In November, Millwall beat the Blues 2-0 at their Calmont Road training ground, the most recent loss suffered by the Town youngsters, who are currently undefeated in four.

U23s: Egan, Emmanuel, Cotter, Spence, Clements, Dozzell, Nydam, Bishop, Dawkins, K Brown, Drinan. Subs: Ware, El Mizouni, Webber, Dobra, McGavin.

Home game coming up - hope Bishop and Dozzell come through this game unscathed so they can push for a start in the midfield 3. Completely understand playing 3 defensive midfielders away at Villa but at home to Sheff Wed would like to see a more forward thinking player in there to try and turn some of our possession into chances

Good luck U23s, give us something to cheer about.

Apologies but i havent seen the likes of Cotter, Clements, Brown and a few others play so couldnt comment. But Dozzell, Bishop and Nydam are quality players who (fit and healthy) really could go on to bigger and better things. They just need to start translating that to regular first team action and, in turn, helping the club push fowards/upwards.

I think Cotter can play left back and Spence is probably better in the middle. Good luck chaps

Can't understand why Andre isn't getting in the first team. Think it's highly likely he'll leave at the end of the season and we'll rue not ever giving him enough playtime.

Rugbytomc playing 3 DMs at 2 nil down is not front foot approach . We will never win games with that approach
Huge fan of Bish and have him getting splinters all game was wrong - IMO

Also a fan of Bishop. His little cameo against AC Stanley showed what hes capable of in an attacking sense.

'Blueinscotland' - Agree, Im concerned that these up and coming players will look elsewhere for regular first team football. Even at a non league level Ive seen youngsters, with genuine quality, not being given the opportunity. Only for a few year later to be snapped up by top flight clubs once they had strength and experience under their belt. Im not suggesting it applies to all and I appreciate its a very difficult juggling act trying bring in youth whilst at the same time be competitive. But then then im not a football manager.

Just been to the under 23 game bishop outstanding scoring 1 brilliant individual goal dozzell neat and tidy but needs to dominate games more Josh Emmanuel was steady at right back not quite ready for first team action very hard to judge a player as the standard is not great at this level.
