Bialkowski, Kenlock and Downes Start at Villa
Saturday, 26th Jan 2019 14:21

Town boss Paul Lambert has made three changes to his team as the Blues face his old club Aston Villa at Villa Park with Bartosz Bialkowski, Myles Kenlock and Flynn Downes all starting.

Bialkowski returns in goal for Dean Gerken, who drops to the bench, while Kenlock comes in for Callum Elder at left-back with the Australian also among the subs.

At the centre of the defence James Collins, facing his old club, is at centre-half alongside Luke Chambers. Downes comes into a three-man midfield with Cole Skuse and Trevoh Chalobah.

Will Keane starts as the central striker with Alan Judge on the right and Freddie Sears on the left with Collin Quaner also moving to the bench.

Villa make two changes with Glenn Whelan and Anwar El Ghazi coming into the team for Birkir Bjarnason, who is missing from the 18, and Yannick Bolasie, whose loan from Everton has been cut short, while Mile Jedinak is back on the bench after injury. Ex-Blues midfielder Conor Hourihane starts.

Aston Villa: Kalinic, Taylor, Chester, Whelan, McGinn, Hourihane, Abraham, Hutton, El Ghazi, Elphick, Adomah. Subs: Steer, Jedinak, Davis, Kodjia, Elmohamady, Hause, O’Hare.

Town: Bialkowski, Pennington, Chambers, Collins, Kenlock, Chalobah, Skuse, Downes, Judge, Sears, Keane. Subs: Gerken, Jackson, Nolan, Bishop, Nsiala, Elder, Quaner. Referee: Keith Stroud (Hampshire).

Big ask today no matter who plays! Will do well just to keep Abraham off the scoresheet today. Would prob take a point but we really need more than draws now to get us out of the ****!

Defensive looking line up, hardly snacks you in the ‘boat' as front foot football, but if it works who cares.

Tough game today but playing the likes or Kenlock and Downes can only bode will for the future of this club regardless of which league we are part of next season!
I think Harrison has somthing to offer maybe more so than Quaner but i guess it's a bit early to write any of them off!

That's Knudsen out of the door then. Glad to see Downes and Kenlock in the side, not so sure about Freddie on the left again though! This is (as all of the remaining games are) massive! COYB!

The experts are looking backwards again then !
We need to stop invidious comparisons and support and judge our whole team on what they can and will do for ITFC .

........ maybe Suffolkboy - but at the moment our judgement of our team is that they can, and won't do very much for ITFC ..... !!

We are being roasted again, by a team that haven't been very impressive of late - until today of course.

Bishop and Dozell are at present not as good as though chosen today to weak those in there will ensure we don't get smashed just let Lambert manage he does get paid to do it.

Supporting Ipswich is difficult but necessary in my life
So good if they win but so rare and so depressing when they lose which is far too often
I am resigned to relegation this year and like others on this site cannot see an instant return with the current playing staff A second goal goes in as I write
As I live in N Lincs at least Ipswich will be playing some local teams Oh what has happened Freddie has just scored

Another 2 goals conceded away from home and another defeat. I think that seals our fate. Definitely going down now.
