Boro Striker Gestede Linked With Blues Loan Monday, 17th Dec 2018 19:38
Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede is reported to be among Paul Lambert’s January Town loan targets.
According to the Daily Telegraph the 30-year-old will be made available by Boro during the transfer window with the Blues having made an initial enquiry.
Benin international Gestede was previously with Aston Villa - who sold the 6ft 4in tall frontman to the Teessiders for £6 million in January 2017 - and Blackburn but not during Lambert’s time in charge of either club.
Like Daryl Murphy, Gestede is very much the experienced Championship number nine Lambert is looking to add to his squad during the January window and is almost certainly on his list of potential recruits.
Essey-lès-Nancy-born Gestede, who spent time with Cardiff and Metz earlier in his career, has made only two starts this season - one in the Championship in November - as well as four sub appearances and is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Overall, he has made 20 starts and 27 sub appearances for Boro, scoring six goals.

My number 1 ideal striker for us! Even the flexibility of us playing 4-4-2 Sears and him would work so well together. I like the way we're playing at the moment would be ideal
Would be a great signing, a front 3 of Lankester, Gestede and a bang in form Sears sounds very appealing.
This is also a bit of a litmus test of how much financial commitment ME is prepared to display. No doubt Gestede is on a large wage and Boro will want most of that covered for a 6-month loan. If we're to stay up, this is the exact sort of player we need to be not only targeting, but securing.
Spooky! Was genuinely mulling over whether PL would consider going in for him - then, as if by magic, this snippet emerged!
Would be a really good option, if a deal could be done. Ticks all the boxes as a battle-hardened C'ship player. Would he want to come here? That's down to PL and, crucially, ME. If there's any realistic chance, then let's not loose our for the sake of £££. The difference between staying up and playing League 1 football would make investment in this lad a no brainer in financial terms.
This guy on his day is exiting but seems happy on the bench as his record at all clubs proves. Personally of all the links Crouch is the winner for me as he has played at the top and scored at the top. He would also give us something different and put a few more bums on seats. I guess we will linked with many more between now and January, but at least these are proven strikers not another from Shrewsbury or Accrington!
In all fairness, he's never really done much where he has gone - but there is definitely a very good player in there somewhere. I'd 100% take this though!! Only thing is... loans!? We have so many, but it's sadly the only thing that Lambert is going to get by the looks of things - other than maybe a couple of small fee signings!
crying out for a target man, and gestede is defo a good option. if murphy is actually available i would prefer him as still knows alot of the players here and wouldnt need time to settle in imo. loans are all we will realistically get, which im fine with because most players surley wouldnt want to sign for us on our current league position as it would be a risk. anyway here is to hoping jan brings some reinforcements we need. coyb
Better than any of the others mentioned recently. Whilst I appreciate what Murphy has done for us in the past, the past is in the past, he will never repeat it. Gestede on the other hand would come here and put himself in the shop window. Still has a lot to offer.
Santa. Please forget my previous letter and please make this come true.
I suppose we have to endure all these reported links for another two weeks whether they are true, false or simply made up. If we do get a serious sniff at Gestede I hope TWTD will keep quiet about it for obvious reasons.
Mentioned it before, but if i was PL, i'd be on the phone to Jurgen Klopp enquiring about the availability of Dominic Solanke on loan. I know for a fact (article in the Liverpool Echo) that JK was seriously considering letting him go out on loan a while back (while PH was here). I think the guy has an absolute bag full of goals in him at championship level. He was after all, good enough to make an appearance in one of Englands warm up games for the world cup (and an impressive cameo it was). Of course, he may not want to come here, but one thing's for sure, don't ask don't get!
On the face of it would probably do a job for us trying to get us out of the relegation places, but have to say it looks like he's struggled the last year.
Maybe i,m the only one with reservations about signing "yesterday players" . Saying that, as we are in a right struggle we have little choice. Back to signing short term experienced players and loan players because previous recruitment hasn,t worked out.
