Morris Nets First Senior Goal
Saturday, 24th Nov 2018 17:09

On-loan Blues striker Ben Morris netted his first senior goal as Forest Green Rovers beat Carlisle 2-1 at Brunton Park in League Two.

Morris put Rovers ahead in the 13th minute as he made his first league start having previously made three starts in the Checkatrade Trophy in addition to one appearance from the bench in the league.

The 19-year-old is on loan for the season but with the Blues able to cut his spell short in January.

Elsewhere, Tristan Nydam was an unused sub as his loan club St Johnstone drew 0-0 at home with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership.

Right-back Josh Emmanuel was in the Shrewsbury side which won 3-2 away at Wycombe Wanderers in League One.

Centre-half Luke Woolfenden played the full 90 minutes as Swindon won 1-0 at Port Vale in League Two.

Neither Aaron Drinan nor Pat Webber were involved for their loan clubs Sutton and Braintree in the Vanarama National League.

Meanwhile, today’s results in the Championship mean the Blues are now six points - plus goal difference - from safety with Millwall and Bolton in 21st and 22nd respectively having drawn 1-1 at the Den.

Reading, 20th, also picked up a point via a 0-0 draw at Wigan, while Hull, 23rd, were beaten 2-0 at Nottingham Forest.

Elsewhere, former Blues boss Mick McCarthy is expected to be confirmed as manager of the Republic of Ireland tomorrow, returning to the role he previously occupied between 1996 and 2002.

Drinan was at Playford Road today I think. Well it looked like him in Barry Cotters video.

Best wishes to Mick McCarthy if he is appointed Ireland boss.

Best wishes, and best of luck to the Irish, if Mick the mouth is appointed. They'll certainly need it with his dire preastoric rubbish.

Let's hope he will start getting a bit more game time from now on. Disappointing the lack of action that nydam is getting. Hopefully he'll come back in January and take edun's place in the squad. Edun is a waste of a loan as he's no better than any of our own players. He'd be better off going back to Fulham

1 bright bit of news on an otherwise miserable weekend of football. Norwich done the business today although sounds like Swansea were bearing gifts at times. Was hoping the Swans would turn them over but not to be. Adds insult to injury on another grim weekend of football. Have to credit Norwich though, they didn't look great early doors this season but now they're in with a real chance of promotion. I sure hope they blow it but even so, they really have turned things around and I never expected to see them up there as only a few weeks ago they looked like possible relegation rivals! To be honest, I doubt even their fans expected this either. I have to say, that Daniel Farke is proving a real Farker!
