Lankester on Standby for England U19s
Friday, 9th Nov 2018 21:02

Blues striker Jack Lankester is on standby for the England U19s squad playing European Championships qualifiers during the international break.

The England youngsters face Moldova on Wednesday 14th November, Iceland three days later and Turkey on Tuesday 20th November.

Lankester, 18, who hasn’t previously been capped at any level, has impressed new manager Paul Lambert since he took over at Town.

“Good player, very good,” Lambert said at his Thursday press conference. “Good talent, a huge talent. A terrific left foot. He’s not a baby but you have to give them time as well.

“He might make impacts here and there. He might start the odd game or so or might come off the bench. But it’s a big, big ask to throw somebody in, but a big, big talent Jack is.”

Put him on the bench, give him 45 mins. With our poor goal scoring this season, what is there to lose?
