Striker Jon Walters is a doubt for Saturday’s game at home to Bolton Wanderers due to the achilles injury which saw him miss last night’s 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Prior to the Bees match manager Paul Hurst had said a player was a doubt but wouldn’t reveal their identity, although Walters appeared a strong candidate having returned early from the Republic of Ireland camp the previous week due to an ongoing knee problem.

But, while Walters, a Wanderers player early in his career, was indeed the mystery man, Hurst revealed afterwards that the issue was a different injury.

“His achilles, he felt it at the start of the game [at Hull] but got through fine but felt it right at the end,” he told iFollow Ipswich.

“We knew it was going to be sore and we thought there was a good chance of him being out and that proved to be the case.

“Whether or not he’s got a chance for the weekend, I’d suggest probably not. But we’ll see how that one goes.”

Better news for Hurst is Toto Nsiala’s return after his three-match ban for the Trotters visit, although the former Shrewsbury man will face a battle to get back into the side with new loanee Matthew Pennington one of the Blues’ top performers during his absence.

Meanwhile, Town are reported to be keeping tabs on Kidderminster Harriers attacking midfielder Ed Williams.

The 23-year-old, who joined the Vanarama National League North side from Gloucester City where he had spent the previous three seasons in the summer, has scored five goals in five starts and two sub appearances already during 2018/19 and has also claimed one assist.

Williams, who started his career with Cheltenham Town, is also understood to be interesting National League Salford.

dugoutdave added 17:18 - Sep 19 H.Blue - usually I would agree, never been a great Chamber's fan. However I think he's played his part this season and was especially good on Tuesday. If you drop him as Captain and as a senior playing when his performance is good the morale effect on the team could be de-stabilising.

Donacien very poor, watch the Brentford highlights how many times he failed to follow his runner / dived in rather than sitting off and getting caught out of position. Alot of you and my friends included seem to think he looks good. I do not see it.

It is unfair to judge him yet as the poor chap has not had a run of games. Indeed was he not left out of a couple because of the number of loan players in a match day squad ruling? When he has played he has been asked to cover left back, centre Back and right back with a good attitude but has not settled yet. He is certainly worth persevering with because in my view Spence is not a right back.

I'd like to see him start on the right and Edwards on the left against Bolton. Even if Walters is fit there's no way we should drop Jackson for him. He was a completely different player after his goal and looked very confident.
