Collins Still Training With Town
Monday, 10th Sep 2018 14:22

Former West Ham central defender James Collins is continuing to train with the Blues.

As TWTD revealed, the 35-year-old free agent joined up with the Town squad last week and took part in training for a couple of days.

Collins returned to Playford Road earlier today but with no decision yet made on whether he will be joining the Blues.

Despite the transfer window being closed, clubs are still able to sign players who are free agents.

Aston Villa were linked with the former Wales international, who was previously with them between 2009 and 2012, last week, while The Telegraph claimed over the weekend that Collins has been waiting to see whether the Midlanders firm up their interest.

Hope we can get this done. We'd be looking like a much more well balanced Championship side with Collins and Walters added. I praise Hurst for the bold young signings he's made but we certainly required one or two old heads to help them along the way. With Chambers, Skuse, Collins and Walters in the ranks it looks like a good blend of youth and experience now.

As he has come back for a second time, he is obviously interested or he would have stayed away. Provided the terms he is seeking are not ridiculous, get him signed up. As Blueblood90 says above, the vast experience of Chambers, Skuse, Walters and Collins would be of immense benefit to our own youngsters and new recruits, not only on match days but also around the training ground.

Walters and Colins have Premier leauge experience Skuse and Chambers have leauge 1 experience before played for us, although chambers has been decent. Maybe Skuse could teach the youngens how to give the ball away he's been good at that so far.

I wonder how long this will go on for?

I appreciate that the offer on the table from Town is probably quite meager, and that he will be hoping to attract a more substantial offer elsewhere, but at some point we must surely be looking to conclude this affair either way.

Mark me down all you want Skuse has had 70 percent pass completion and he tries play it safe every time but he does stuff we don't see apparently...... Can't wait till he's gone one of the major problems with how we play.

But I'll still be driving to Hull Saturday no matter who plays I'm behind them don't worry about that.

EDP Says Collins wants to see if Villas interest goes anywhere before committing to town

I would have thought if he really wanted to play for us then this would have been sorted by now.
Villa may be what he is hoping for and if so get him off our premises.
Better to have people with us who want to be with us even if their standard is not as high.

The longer this goes on the less likely he'll sign imo

Could keep us in this league for the season and help progress next year.

They both had played mainly in league 1 peoples try act like he's a rock who clears everything. One of the reason colins might not want to come and be under threat that Skuse will give the ball away in front of him as he's done all season but he's good apparently we don't see it though lol bet walters is running rings round him training.

Cole Skuse was At City from 04 to 13, city were in the championship from 06 to 13 Skuse made 279 appearances at City, Town signed him in summer of 13, the year they went down.....

Chambo played for Forrest from 07 to 12 Forrest have been in the Champ non stop since 08. Chambo made just over 200 appearances for Forrest.

So no, mostly Championship. Just saying.

The only question to be asked and answered is 'does he want to sign' ? We are not in the driving seat on this one but would very much like him at Town. At least we appear attractive enough for him to train with us.
