Hurst Confirms Collins Interest
Sunday, 2nd Sep 2018 15:17

Town boss Paul Hurst has confirmed that he has spoken to former West Ham defender James Collins and the club will hold talks with the Welshman again in the week ahead. TWTD revealed that Collins was among the centre-halves under consideration ahead of Friday’s loan deadline.

“We spoke to him last week, we’re due to have another conversation, so I wouldn’t particularly rule anything out,” Hurst said.

“He’s certainly not just coming into sign paperwork. But it is something we will look at.”

Clubs are still able to sign free agents such as 35-year-old Collins, who has also been linked with a return to the Hammers, outside the transfer window.

As much as people slate Graham, his corners were more dangerous than any other players this season, lacking match fitness and has not played with the squad before but there's a good player in there

Well he certainly would strengthen the squad. I think PH has realised some more experience is needed, and all credit to him for being willing to adapt his thinking. Hope we get this done, but I can see us losing out to a club with more money. With Walters, Collins, and Pennington (who did well on Sunday) regularly in the side, I think we would be a tougher proposition. Still wonder where the goals are going to come from, though.

Runningout.

Slightly harsh, nowhere near enough body hair.

Now here, or hopefully here, is a good, strong defender. Definitely an asset if we can get him.

6 month contract then reassess the situation jan/feb..wouldnt expect him to start many games and but would be good squad back up/sub...if he don't want 6 months don't bother with him

There are some seriously gormless people posting on TWTD.
It makes you despair sometimes, I'll be glad when they're back at school.

Sorry haven't read all but why! We've now got Pennington Chambers and Toto plus back ups so if he signed surely PH is only going to start with 2.
